ok...just thought i might get u all the think about this
how many times a day do u think u would lie? even just lil white lies
i thought about it and its quite alarming to think that id prolly tell at least 1 - 2 lies a day.....without actually realising or thinking twice about it
and most of the time we lie to benefit ourselves rather than to cover someone elses ass....
hrmmmm....*ponders on thoughts*
how much of a liar are you and how many would u tell??

It depends on the circumstances... Here's the times when I'd lie:
Applying for a house, applying for finance, applying for a job
For all of those, telling the truth leads you nowhere, this I've found from personal experience... So some small white lies about the amount of money you earn, the kind of experience you've had, etc., can mean the difference between success and failure...
When it comes to other stuff tho I rarely lie... In fact I can be brutally honest sometimes, and also honest when I know that I'd get my way much more easily by lying... It's prolly one reason why I'm still single, I never bother trying to cover up any of my faults, I'm not going to lie about myself, I'm just not that kind of person...
However when it comes to complete strangers who I'm likely to never see again in my entire life, a white lie or two is possible...
I won't lie in a way which is going to hurt someone in any forseeable way tho...
Taking all that into account, I'd say there'd be one or two white lies per day...
Add to that the amount of lies I have to tell people every day at work and you've have about 20 or so... Yes, customer service is bullshit... The fact that I'm supposed to be technical support doesn't make any difference either...

Depends what I'm doing or who I'm talking to, I doubt I lie that much but you've made me wonder how many little white ones come out unnoticed..

but in answer to the question.. i only really tell white lies so as not to hurt the other person, rather than to better myself... and in terms of how many per day... maybe one or two..

I am the worst liar..........I totally suck at it.
I am looking for work at the moment and if I could bring myself to lie or change things just a little I could get a job soooooooo easily but I just can't do it.
I've tried and its a hopeless case.....having said that yeah I will lie to avoid hurting someone. And I have been guilty of coming up with really elaborate excuses as to why I can't go somewhere.
 
My lies are usully more to make little things sound better. example someone asks me how was work i could say was a bludge only did work for an hour when i probably did work for 2 hrs and shit like that.
 
My ability to lie and the ease with which I do it with scares me at times.
But I'd never lie to you guys

Research has suggested that people with higher IQ's are also ones who lie more frequently than those who posess lesser intelligence quotients. So, by all means lie... Just don't fall into the trap of BELIEVING your own lies.
Anywaze for those philosophy dudes... Read some Hobbes, and then tell me that lying isn't often the most rational thing to do.
Do I lie? Yes... But I wheigh the lies benefits against its ethical/moral outcomes. I don't ever like hurting people.
