SWIM- really, I never use this acrnonym it annoys me too this case.=D Her psych Rxed her lexapro but the lame insurance wouldn't pay and wanted a generic substitute. Is celexa suitable (I know that lexapro is a combination of enatiomers of celexa, or something like that so it is suppose to be more effective- clear its more potent.

Anyway, SSRIs block SERT so would be expected to be equally effectivce in the right dose. She has panic disorder and is on sub and xanax too- taking this to hopefully require less or no xanax.

Anyaway, I have been on both prozac and lexapro in the past- bot were eually disappointing in me for treating my panic disorder (unfortuanately after years of trying). Of SSRI of the generics- zoloft, paxil, prozac, celexa- what has the best efficacy/ dise effect profile.

You're talking about four drugs with nearly identical side effect profiles, all of which are used to treat major depressive disorder and various anxiety disorders (including panic disorder). It's really a toss up, especially considering the fact that Prozac did not work for you, but Sertraline (Zoloft) is often found to successfully reduce symptoms of panic disorder.
