still trying to figure what route i should take
finally done after 2 yrs of trying to beat anxiety on my own from working out, eating better, yoga, meditation and list goes on and on
its time to take something and be done with it

i currently got lexapro 10mg that i want to get .25mg from
i also got mirtazapine 15mg which i got as a anti histamine more so than for anxiety
mainly have all day anxiety not many attacks anymore more of uneasiness all day
which is getting to the point where its affecting my quality of life

if you ever taken either one which do you prefer and why?
im leaning more towards mirtz as i talked to a few people and said it can cause insane munchies and weight gain
i need to gain weight, currently at 115 lbs so packing on weight wouldnt be a bad thing

escitalopram is considered one of the more difficult SSRIs to quit for those that have taken it long term. much more difficult than citalopram.

i have also known people that had a real hell of a time coming off of remeron. its a pretty heavy hitter and i think lexapro might be a tad easier to quit, but prob less effective.

i have anxiety too, i take neurontin. can't wait to be off of it, bc i barely can remember my life at all. works okay just wouldn't take it every day.

your choice obviously, personally i wouldn't take either and just would take something prn. there is also a russian drug for anxiety that has no withdrawal syndrome. afobazole or something. phenibut twice a week doesn't pose much risk or even an occasional benzo. some people don't have very much control with benzos that are anxiety prone so use caution with that one. benzos can flare up depression too, so keep that in mind.

its give and take, usually what treats the illness will make said illness worse down the line when you come off of it, esp anxiolytics. sometimes the short term is whats needed more but i take a more reserved approach these days based on some bad experiences with daily psych drugs.

best of luck.

impressive response brother
ill take your advice and the info i've gathered into consideration

also i use guanfacine occasionally for anxiety and it works pretty well. thought it might be worth checking out before you take something more heavy duty.

cheers.

i actually was on guanfacine it did help with focus which was a plus
but it left me super tired and it would completely kill my appetite, along with weird sensations in my stomach
after month of it the pro's didnt outweigh the cons
but def a good try if you dont like stimulants for whatever reason....IMO its adderall on training wheels

ps beginning to suspect its my alcohol use
may be alcohol induce anxiety or its low level WD
currently looking for a detox for round 2 lol

mirtazapine is very sedating, lower doses=more sedation

lexapro made me tired but not sedated. On lexapro 20mg I would sit on the couch in my dorm for hours with not a care to get up or do anything. Pretty decent for anxiety, but when i stopped taking it, did half dose for a week and day on/day off for a week. After that i stopped and had terrible headaches for a couple months

When i took mirtazapine, i slept great (too great 10-12+ hours) but i felt the best i have in my life (although I was also on paxil and adderall too). When i stopped mirtazapine, i had no withdrawal, didn't taper at all. I would go back on mirtazapine if it didn't make me sleep so excessively

^^ Pretty much my experience. I'm on Lex now and trying to decide if I ought to try Remeron again. It hit me pretty hard and made me want to eat the whole house all the freakin' time, though.

L-theanine is good for anxiety. Works especially well if you're already taking things like Adderall. Takes the edge off.

I'm specifically looking for any good information on Remeron's anticholinergic effect/burden if anyone has any.
