I have some kratom coming . And planning on ordering some but am going to research it for pain. Particularly chronic lower back pain.

Does anyone have any positive reviews on using this as a pain management alternative. Input would be greatly appreciated. I know kratom is sometimes used for opioid w/d. My friend reported that it did have a slight opioid feel. Like weak hydrocodone.

like said info much appreciated
thanks

Kratom does contain opioid alkaloids, that's for sure. As for using them for chronic pain, I can't offer any personal experience with this but I have heard of a very select few who manage their (obviously not moderate-severe) chronic pain.

It depends on many factors, so you'll probably just have to wait and see, since with chronic pain, what works with other people is not always indicative of what works for you.

i'd hate to force spoonfuls of powder down my throat multiple times daily. capsulated kratom is notoriously known for not being potent unless you buy from a credited source, and even if you put the powder in capsules, you still have to swallow multiple pills. however, kratom works well for pain with depression and other atypical pain disorders due to it's multiple mechanisms of action on the CNS

While there are a few strong extracts available i also queried Kratom for pain management here a while back for the elderly and the consensus was that properly discussed and prescribed pain medication was a better option with good reasoning that I cant quite remember now.

I honestly prefer plain old bali leaf to hydrocodone in terms of pain management. 5-7 grams shaken up in a plastic bottle with some OJ every 3 or so hours keeps my mild to moderate back pain at bay.

Kratom can cause skin/gastorintestinal issues in some with continuous use.
Be careful to titrate every new batch you get, as kratom is a botanical the active ingredients can vary widely in percentage by weight.

Kratom is definitely an opioid and will produce opioid dependence/withdrawal. As long as you have a steady supply you should be able to cope.

I've tried kratom a few times for the first time I tried it, it gave me great anxiolytic effects and some pain relief. I had ordered just bali first then had assorted 10g bags of a large assortment including extracts and enhanced blends. I was a moderate opiate user(heroin/morphine about 2/3 times a week) at the time so I didn't achieve a nod or anything but had no cravings for opiates. But after i used up the some 60 grams I had I had the worse withdrawl I have ever had. I barely get too horrid withdrawl from actual opiates but this stuff was terrible about 2 weeks or horrible vomiting and diarrhea. I had never been that sick in my life. It was so terrible at the time I didn't believe it could've been withdrawl till I said fuck it and shot 60mgs of morphine and it brought me straight outta that hell for a good night and half a day. So if you're going to use kratom don't use it habitually or don't run out.

It's definitely a good alternative for those who don't have access to opiates (like me). Taking it every day will make it less effective, but that happens with anything that controls pain via the CNS. If quality is good and the dose is right, kratom is very similar to hydrocodone or codeine in effects and duration.

When you factor in the legal status, low cost and easy availability, kratom is an awesome option for pain management. (Which is why it won't likely stay legal for long. Can't have a plant threatening pharmaceutical profits, now can we?).
