Hey guys
I've been on 2 mg Klonopin daily and my psych gave me a taper schedule to get down to 1 mg. She said to reduce by .5 mg every 5 days. This is what I did.
After taking 2 mg for a few more days, I reduced the dosage to 1.75 mg for two days. Today I will be starting 1.5 mg for 6 days, then 1.25 for 2 days. Then of course down to 1 mg. Does this sound safe? I'm worried about being safe over anything. I don't want to have a seizure, and I've reduced from 3-4 mg daily down to 1 mg daily in the past, but forgot how long it took me. I had no problems then, I'm just not sure how exactly I did it. I also have symptoms of anxiety that mimic withdrawal symptoms when I just THINK of not having Klonopin. This has happened even when I took the 2 mg or even extra. I'm confused. I just want to be okay

I'm so afraid. After I take my pm dosage I will have 13.5 mg left which fits the taper schedule perfectly considering I cannot get any more until then. I do see my psych in 9 days though, and I'm not sure what to tell/ask her. She is very friendly and understanding, unfortunately, it will be her last month at this office. Ask for anti-convulsants? Switch to Valium?

Google the Ashton manual - it has the taper schedule and also discusses benzo half lives if you are interested in switching over to a longer acting benzo. you are probably going to want to get another script for a month to taper off of the 1mg - though I'm not 100% certain with Klonopin.

When I got off Xanax I started taking Indural and Depakote (antisiezure), When you see your doctor definately request a prescription for Indural (propanol) as it helps tremendously with anxiety. It's a beta blocker and stop the adrenaline response. You may want to discuss possibly getting in an antisiezure med, I can't say for certain of its necessary or not. I had to stop Xanax cold turkey so I am not very familiar with what to expect when tapering off benzos.

If at some point during this process you really don't feel well don't hesitate to go to the emergency room. feel free to hit me up with any other questions- I'll do my best to answer. Good luck!
