Ketamine not dissolving in water

Having a problem redissolving the ketamine I got in to water. I just add 100mg to purified water and I get a white precipitate that remains even after warming the water. I know the K works when I snort it, and I've IM'd the liquid straight from the bottle and that works fine too. But I had some dry stuff left over recently that I wanted to IM, just adding water to it didn't do the trick. Anyone ever heard or seen this? Can I fix this problem, or is my K done for?

This certainly is strange. Ketamine should certainly dissolve. I don't see how it could have gotten converted to freebase. It's possible to try adding an acid of some sort to turn it into a water soluble salt if it did turn into a freebase. You just have to be very careful not to add too much acid. You want the pH of the solution to be neutral, especially for injection.

Also since you're working with powder and IM'ing you really should put it through a micron syringe filter, it could cause an abscess if you don't.

It's also possible that the stuff that's not dissolving is just impurities. Is the bulk of the powder dissolving and you just have a little bit of stuff remaining?

edit: thought I should mention that a freebase is the form of a chemicals that is not soluble in water, it can be turned into a water soluble form by adding an acid. Also I've had K in a baggie in a drawer for 3 years and had some about a couple months ago, absolutely no loss in potency, it was still nice, clear crystals.

maybe its just crushed up shards of glass or something retarded. like i know most people arent that low when it comes to selling k, but im sure it's been done. i might be right if not all of it dissolves, but i could be way off aswell, can't say forsure unless i had it infront of me

Like uniter said: an explanation would be that part of what you have is ketamine, which is why it works. And another part of it is a cut or lace that is not water-soluble accounting for the precipitate.
It's not that weird, a lot of K out there probably is not pure.

I doubt there is ever freebase though, why would there be?..

^ The free amine (freebase) ketamine is also quite caustic as it's a secondary amine & therefore a fairly strong organic base/alkali

PS Ketamine is very water soluble (a saturated soln of ket at room temp is about 280mg/ml), so if something isn't dissolving, it's not ketamine...

Chemistry is universal and unequivocal, there is only one type of ketamine (not counting the two kinds of stereoisomers) and one kind of water across the entire planet under SATP. And ketamine dissolves in water as said.
Since you only want to IM (and insufflate or take using any other method) ketamine, we recommend leaving the precipitate out. It is no use trying to eat or snort the stuff and it would be quite dangerous to force it into your muscles or veins.

Case closed!
