Ketamine a nootropic?

I've heard it doesn't affect spatial memory, or may enhance it, but diminishes verbal memory . . but then I've heard anecdotally these go away after awhile

Yes. I'm one of those 20-30 people who reported back to Jamshyd. Low dose ketamine is most certainly a cognition enhancer, antidepressant, and anxiolytic. It's not without effects, both physiological and psychological, that most people would consider unwanted. All drug use carries risk. Ketamine's pharmacokinetics are ideal for an anesthetic but leave a lot to be desired for a nootropic, which makes dosing a challenge. But it does have the effects claimed.

All NMDA receptor antagonists widely available have generated anecdotal reports like we're discussing now. I've heard of people getting a mental tuneup from regular low-dose use of DXM, PCP, memantine, and theanine. But as with ketamine, a good knowledge of the drug's pharmacokinetics, especially as expressed in your body, is key, and means the difference between waking up one day walking across the stage to receive a PhD, and waking up in a padded cell.

I have had incredible results with 60mg DXM and 200mg L-theanine daily. I am a different person, and I would not go back. The emotional stability and calm yet powerul zest for life is priceless. The memory issues were transient at this dose, I found. I originally had word-finding difficulties, and had the tendency to make long sentences, because I wouldn't remember clearly how I'd started the sentence. I actually find myself to be more verbally facile now, both with and without DXM.

I do miss the DA agonism of K. But I appreciate the longer half life, and very much like the 5ht activity of DXM.

The reports I've read of threshold doses of PCP daily contain phrases like "more sober than sober". I'd be very keen to try this. The reports I've read of medium-high-dose memantine are less intriguing but still remarkable, and probably perfect for someone who's on other drugs that contraindicate DXM's serotonergic effects.

Thank you for the response . . this reminds me of the dali lama saying he would support a drug that would give people the feeling of well-being without the hours of meditation. Congratulations on your steady-state. I believe I will try this levo theanine and forego the stimulants once I complete a particularly boring exam . . seeing as how it increases DA perhaps it will help my RLS as well. Thank you sincerely, I feel I'm amongst peers. Coincidentally, the verbal agnosia(?) . . searching for words lol prompted me to look into this. Have the effects of the amino acid supplementation diminished over time for you?
