Kavanaugh sworn in

How many time will the thread title change? This reminds me of that hindenburg snowflake meme.

Perjury Update

Lists the general accusations of perjury people are throwing at Kavanaugh and why they won't fly.

a listing that only links to itself as its sources? cmon now.

500 yale students and alumni demand kavanaugh be investigated for perjury
did kavanaugh give false testimony under oath? (tl;dr - yes)
kavanaugh lied to the senate judiciary committee (specifically points out how the national review's case that there was no perjury - to which you linked, TLB - falls apart)
kavanaugh's former roommate calls him out on perjury

and the list goes on

btw TLB, care if me and a friend come over and play devil's triangle with your daughter? ;)

the American Bar Association is re-evaluating the "well qualified" ranking they previously gave kavanaugh due to the temperament he displayed during the hearing

His temperanment was fine (you should be pissed and emotional if falsely accused of heinous crimes) and he was the defendant in that situation, not a judge. It has nothing to do with his "judicial temperanment" which has proven to be rock solid over decades.

the American Bar Association disagrees. and waht do you mean "defendant"? JOB INTERVIEW, knock it off with the strawmen.

srsly i'm getting to the point where ima start infracting with all these intentional fallacies, sophistry, and deflections. there is no criminal case here, he is not a defendant, he is interviewing for a job. stop derailing the thread into delusional fantasyland.

I have asked this many times, and you haven't answered (and now admit you are scared of debate with the infraction thing.)

IN GENERAL: In school, personal life, work, or criminal procedings, should we require proof when accusations are made?

I've never had a job interview where someone came in the room and said "we have allegations that you are a rapist." That's not a normal job interview (unless the individual actually was a rapist with some proof.)

And yes, I know TECHNICALLY due process only applies to criminal procedings. However, it is a key aspect of Western Culture, keeping us from mob rule.

Past incidents where due process was abandoned were the witch trials (yes, criminal procedings, but no way to prove innocence) and the Jim Crow south.

If I'm wrong, why not make me look stupid/refute my points (if you can?) Is it because moderates may side with due process?

To be fair, any job interview that involves "You are accused of rape, with nothing to support the accusation except 'witnesses' who don't support the claim" generally isn't really a job interview either. I'll concede it isn't a trial, but it isn't a job interview any more than it is a trial. This is a whole different animal when it comes to a Senate review, as evidenced by the range and latitude the Senators were given for questioning and challenging the 'job applicant'.

He is lucky he even has a chance to defend himself for the job.

Many jobs today will go behind your back and find info on you from social media, etc, and turn you down based on information they find (which may or may not be true).

Jees. Things are getting heated...

I've come to accept that Brett will be voted in one way or the other. It's not a happy reality, but there's nothing anyone can do about it. Oh well.

the place to discuss that is the sex allegations megathread. ask there and we can debate it.

I am busted for half assing and passing it along. Guilty.

Not intentional misleading (please don't infract), just lazy af.

permab& incoming >:E

seriously. next job interview i have, i'm gonna tell them over and over again how much i like beer, and refuse to answer most of their question (and lie for the few i do answer). if its good enough to land a job on the highest court in the land then surely its a good enough strategy for some bullshit deadend wageslave job.
