Illinois judge OKs extradition request of Kyle Rittenhouse to Wisconsin

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A Lake County judge in Illinois has granted the request to extradite Kyle Rittenhouse to Wisconsin.
Rittenhouse, 17, faces first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree intentional homicide charges for the shooting deaths of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum during unrest in Kenosha back in August.
Rittenhouse is facing the charges after he allegedly shot and killed the two protesters during unrest in Kenosha following the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
In court Friday morning, Lake County District attorneys said their only job was to prove that all of the documents were in order to properly extradite Rittenhouse back to Wisconsin to face his charges.
Rittenhouse's attorneys argued the teen shouldn't be extradited because the criminal complaint was not signed by a proper magistrate in Wisconsin, which is required by law.
Judge Paul Novak ruled Friday afternoon that Rittenhouse would be extradited.
Kenosha County Sheriff Beth confirms to TMJ4 that Rittenhouse was picked up and is now in Wisconsin.

During the hearing, Rittenhouse’s lawyer said he had changed his mind since informing the court he would call witnesses, including Rittenhouse’s mother. Attorney John Pierce instead described what he called “fatal defects” in Rittenhouse's extradition papers and called for Rittenhouse to remain in Illinois.
“This Illinois child must go free,” he told the judge.
A Lake County prosecutor meanwhile argued that blocking Rittenhouse's transfer would undermine the justice system.
“You can imagine the chaos if someone can commit a crime and step over the (state borderline) and get sanctuary,” Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Stephen Scheller said.
Pierce posted to social media following the decision that he will be filing a notice in the Illinois Court of Appeal.

Inside the courtroom on the eighth floor of the Lake County Courthouse, Rittenhouse silently sat beside his attorneys.
Chants could be heard from the street level as dueling protests took place outside.
Protesters chanted for Rittenhouse to face extradition while supporters stood nearby demanding the charges against Rittenhouse be dropped.

"What does it look like today? Extradition - so that the process continues. The process is flawed and broken, and we are here to fight to see it through to the end," said protester Don Gross.
"I believe the charges should be dropped because self-defense is not a crime," said Emily Cahill, who supports Rittenhouse.

Short version:

Rittenhouse's lawyer was desperately grasping and failed, and now Rittenhouse is back in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
 
Even if it was justifiably self defense he was illegaly possessing and using that gun so um......


also I don't think a 17 year old mind has the mental capacity for riot dispersal/security.
 
Not sure if this is pure coincidence or not, but shortly after Rittenhouse was released from Kenosha jail today on $2 million bail, there was an active shooter at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa.
 
The Kenosha DA just announced there will be no charges filed against Rusten Shesky, the cop who shot Jacob Blake seven times point blank in the back.
 
Did you notice how he had to throw in, immediately after, that Jacob Blake wouldn't be charged either? Like somehow we should all be overfilled with gratitude... it definitely didn't come off right.
 
The thing about this one is while they could of probably tackled and tazed him for not listening that would of even been questionable. Emptying a gun into his back is absolutely attempted murder in every way. Even 1 bullet. Police these days. Why I stay far away from them. Seen a few the other day trying to get into the building next door. They all had tactical gear on. Looked very scary if they got a hold of you.

Yeah the militarization of the police these days is ridiculous. It's definitely a bipartisan failure, too, as much of it transpired under the Obama administration & is directly related to the "war on drugs", an issue that Democrats have historically displayed nothing but cowardice in regards to. The way the police prey on some poor and working class communities is disgusting, too. Whether it's in Ferguson or New York City or wherever, in a lot of these places the cops use the community as just an ATM to extort money from.

Police are granted widespread powers to enforce the law, and if they can't handle scrutiny, even intense scrutiny, to make sure that they're responsible public servants & aren't violating the rights of the citizenry then they shouldn't have the job. Any psycho who doesn't view the job as being a public servant, as being an armed bureaucrat basically, but rather as one in which they're a occupying soldier and the citizens they're supposed to be protecting are all potential insurgents, shouldn't have the job. It's much broader than a "race issue" (although it's that too), it's an issue in which one group of people can fucking violate your rights with impunity, even your right to not be killed, while a bunch of other bootlickers with an obvious fetish for rank authoritarianism cheer and smear. But that's no surprise, after all Democrats and Republicans were united for decades in undermining a citizen's 4th amendment rights against unlawful search & seizure during the war on drugs, as they turned this nation into the world's largest penal colony.

I mean, the fact that I've seen people excuse police killings (like the Taylor incident) as a consequence of the victim's alleged participation in the drug trade, on a website like this, is pretty unbelievable.

Maybe some of those same people wouldn't mind it if their brains get blown out the back of their skull for their own former participation w/ illegal drugs? That's what America is all about, right, is slavish obedience to state security services who have absolute power over your very life and can terminate it w/ impunity due to your past mistakes? How the police can act as judge, jury & executioner and we can all be reminded that you were no "choirboy" after the fact

What I don’t get is if you know it’s open season on your ass, you generally refrain from slapping the bees nest with aggressive movements. Like it or not black or white, black to more extreme.. get the shit beat out of them or shot. I had friend, sadly who killed 3 people in one night he was black. They didn’t shoot him, despite him charging at officers with a vehicle. So what’s the point in this? Despite what you may think, not all police are awful. All it takes is common sense to understand that when you fuck with the law you get fucked up. I’m not saying this is right, we need a drastic change in police policy and accountability but when it becomes a political agenda I then question the motives and follow the money. Although let’s defund police and get rid of all the firearms raise taxes and go into a lockdown. That should work perfectly. In other words offer solutions instead of opinions if you trying to change the world.

Prosecutors are seeking to modify his bail after all of this, which hopefully is successful.
