Social Justice Jacob Blake shot seven times by white cop, paralyzed, may never walk again.

What has the world come to that a rapist is cheered for and donated to for being in the wrong. Burning your city is seen as a courageous protest. Where numbers and statistics are racist and bigoted.
I dunno, maybe instead of a cop they should have sent a social worker to this poor innocent soul

Again...

shot in the back, unarmed
are we still making excuses guys?

Dude was going into his car where there could be ANYTHING.

I'm not making excuses, this is a very terrible thing and is disgusting to see.

Obviously the officer holds most of the responsibility here, but you know what would have prevented this? If the dude listened to the cop and cooperates.

Doesn't excuse the actions of the officer but he's got to make a snap decision there. Before I had a kid do you know where I kept my gun? Right under my front seat I had a box installed for it. Just saying.

Obviously, you don't need to pull the trigger 7 fucking times and I'm pretty sure even I could make sure to disable someone by hitting them in non fatal spots for 6 inches away. Also, second cop behind first one with one hand on the gun pointing at his partners back doesn't look real good either. Where do they get these guys?

In and of itself, it's not.

It's when we dissect why someone would initially make that argument - reaching for a gun - (and, this is not directed at you specifically, it's only addressing the argument itself.)

There could be the aspect that someone sees a black male, with multiple police, and who appears to be ignoring commands get into a car and then is fired upon from behind by a police officer assume he was reaching for a weapon because he's black. Unfortunately, this is likely to be thought by some people.

There could be the aspect that a police officer would never shoot someone in the back 7 times unless the person was an imminent threat, so there would be absolute faith in the police officer that he had to have reached for a gun to be shot, irrespective of race.

And then probably somewhere inbetween a mix of the two.

Same. I heard some rumblings that this police department doesn't have body cameras, which would seriously be a shame. Especially if the police officer tries to justify his actions with that argument that he reached for a gun.
Police run into a lot of fucked up situations. It's not fair to assume every person you are dealing with has a weapon on them, but it's not safe to assume nobody does. So what do you do? You remain vigilant. You have to ride the fence and be on guard always.

Every time I've been arrested theyve asked if I was carrying a weapon then after I tell them no, they still run my pockets.

The one time I got out of my car to reason with them after a car chase they had guns drawn and told me to get back in the car. You know what I did? I got back in the car.

Did I not get shot bc I'm white or bc I listened to them?

"He was tazered by a female officer before appearing to attempt to enter his car, with his three children inside." So, um, yeah, it appears they did try other things first.

Yeah, when the witnesses started saying that he was initially tasered and officers yelled at him to drop the weapon (before this video), I started to think that this may never be fully resolved as we would all like due to no body cameras available. It's all going to come down to the personal account of the police officer and Jacob Blake.

The NBA suspends all playoff games in protest of Jacob Blake’s shooting. Good, maybe they can enjoy the Magical Kingdom and use their Disney Bucks to buy a funnel cake! The NBA Isn’t helping.

🧙‍♂️

The NBA suspended all playoffs? I just heard the Milwaukee Bucks were in protest by boycotting the playoff game.

Meanwhile, let’s burn down the town. Right?

It's going to escalate even further into civil war with these armed civilians groups, and I have verified that one of the groups is boogaloo (non extreme version) and led by someone I actually (vaguely) know through NA.

Although, Evers did accept federal law enforcement from Trump today, so tonight may be significantly different.

To compound the anger even further, a local Milwaukee activist, Frank Nitty, marching every step from Milwaukee, WI to Washington D.C., got shot at the other night as they were walking down the road and one of his group hit in the face. The town is insanely racist where it happened in Bedford Co., and many troubling events that happened after, I've been planning on posting about it but have been so focused on this. I'm not sure if it fits in better in BLM or here anymore since it's just all creating the perfect atmosphere for continued escalation.

It's kind of hard to use your muscles when there is electrical current running through them

All this shit is doing, is further (stupidity) encouraging black and brown people to not listen to the commands of police officers. This type of mentality will undoubtedly result and many more deaths and lives ruined by this stupid rhetoric. Fact. Listen to police commands.

🧙‍♂️
You understand why the media deliberately overplays this? The more rioting/looting, the more beaten up/incarcerated black people. All media is conservative.

Keep this in mind.

That's one way to look at it, although I respectfully disagree.

10,000 arrests.

They are fanning the flames. Lots of video footage of protests, arrests, police brutality. Makes for a lot of news story and click bait.

In a media vaccuum this would not be happening.

I'm not suggesting people shouldn't be outraged and upset and go protest. Do whatever you want, of course. I just see it as self-defeating cycle at this point.

AG Josh Kaul live news conference right now.

Supposedly he said he had a knife, not a gun, and a knife was found in the driver's side door. There is no indication, though, that he was actively reaching for the knife, however, only that he said he had a knife in his possession.

At the very least, it's building a defense for the police officer.

That’s what I thought, dumb (stupid) Jacob. I’m really glad he can’t make that mistake again (paralyzed).

Stoopid.

🧙‍♂️

1. Why didn't the police officer back up and keep his gun drawn? How many white people have we seen with knives out not get gunned down? There was no immediate threat since the officer could retreat.

2. There is no indication he went to reach for the knife, only that he indicated he had one in his possession.

indeed.

i wish i understood how somebody could be glad that somebody else was shot 7 times in the back at point blank range and is now paralyzed. i just don't personally know anybody with that level of lack of empathy...

alasdair

It doesn’t matter what color creed/religion you are. If the cops think your a threat and you don’t obey their commands, you will be shot (a bunch of times in this case).

Zero empathy for Jacob Blake on this one.

🧙‍♂️

It's nice to think it's so simple, but there's a lot of nuances involved leading up to the moment an officer decides to use deadly force (which is exactly the reason the Kenosha Sheriff balked at deputizing the armed civilians).

The officer will never be charged, of course, but that doesn't mean it was handled well.

The media has asked about 10 different ways for clarification on the knife and Kaul refuses to comment further besides it was recovered in the driver's side door and only that he acknowledged he had a knife in his possession at some point.
