Ok so I just went through a traffic check and the cop made a comment about my cell phone being out and how texting is dangerous & illegal when driving. He @aid it was worse than drinking and driving. What the Bacon didn't know was I was hitting the bowl the whole way home

So, which is more dangerous: smoking weed while driving, texting while driving, or drinking and driving?

In the spirit of BL, I am not recommending anyone to drive while doing any of these activities

considering i can accurately text with one hand and without looking at my phone a single time in the process, I'd have to say that drinking and driving is most dangerous.

OR reading text message responses while driving. it's pretty easy to text and drive, though.

hmmmm. i guess it depends. in order of danger:

driving while stoned < driving while smoking < drunk driving < driving and texting

that's at least how it is for me. i'm no good at texting.

i think drunk driving is worse than driving and texting, because with a little bit of technique you can do it fairly easily, but i guess it also depends on the phone too. people tend to underestimate texting while driving because it seems so trivial, but you can easily get caught up in the act of it, which isn't safe on the road

i agree with !_MDMA_!, with technique and practice you can master texting and driving (i would assume, i never text and drive). however, no amount of technique can ever make driving while extremely drunk anywhere near safe. i mean it really depends on the amount of alcohol but i do know that when it comes to extreme levels of intoxication, you just cannot do things like drive safely with any degree of safety.

i've driven drunk like 3 times. im pretty damn aware of my drunkenness when im behind the wheel of a car. just because im drunk doesn't mean i've forgotten what it's like to lose loved ones to a drunken driver. unlike my sister. my god damn sister. who LOVES to forget what that's like, and jump into a car like it's no big fucking deal. guess what? her legs are crippled, her face is swollen, her tooth is chipped, and she's never allowed to drive a car ever again. lesson learned.

what i do is i loosen my grip of the wheel until the grip is purely the surface of my skin. i pull out and make sure the car is driving STRAIGHT down the road, and keep my arms EXACTLY where they are. eyes DIRECTLY in front, NO music, NO noise at all, PERFECT temperature, and whoever the fuck is calling is going to have to wait.

self-discipline. martial arts has taught me more than I thought it would.

anyways, that being said, if I flip open my phone and try to reply to a text, I look back up and I'm diving into the other lane. Every time. I stopped trying to do that shit. It's DEFINITELY worse than drunk driving, I can garsh-darn guarantee it.

I think you can drive pretty safely drunk. It's just when something unexpected happens, and your ability to react is non-existent. Depending on how cavalier a drunk driver you are, of course. Some people play it super safe, other people who are drunk just don't give a shit anymore. That said, it's a pretty stupid idea to drive drunk at all, ever, and its a practice that has slowly gone from extremely common among the people I know, to almost never happening anymore.

Texting on the other hand is a forced distraction. However, when I text I tend to get a bit involved in the whole saga, so I wouldn't do it driving. If i could text one handed without having to peek at all I would probably do it.
