Israel is under attack

I know that Christianity is a little taboo around here, but I think both sides need Jesus... Jesus would be weeping over the evils committed by BOTH sides of this conflict over the past 75 years.

From Matthew 5:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. But whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your coat also. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to the one who asks you, and do not reject the one who wants to borrow from you.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be like your Father in heaven, since he causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors do the same, don’t they? And if you only greet your brothers, what more do you do? Even the Gentiles do the same, don’t they? So then, be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

From Matthew 23:

“Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ By saying this you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up then the measure of your ancestors! You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

“For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town, so that on you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. I tell you the truth, this generation will be held responsible for all these things!

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it! Look, your house is left to you desolate! For I tell you, you will not see me from now until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

I think Christianity is the last thing this situation needs, as US evangelical Christians are some of the biggest backers of Israel because they think that Israel will bring about the Apocalypse

That's a terrible analogy. When Israel was created, the Jews literally accepted two seperate states living side by side, as they had been for centuries under Ottoman rule. The Palestinians rejected this.

Anglo Saxon Protestant Christians are not representative of true Christianity

more palestinians than jewish ppl in the state during the time of the partition plan, yet more land allocated for the jewish state... how was that fair?

Three quarters of a million Palestinians were kicked out of the land when Israel was formed in the late 40s. Of course the Jews accepted the plan and the Palestinians didn't. The Jews got everything and had to give up nothing.

It wasn't fair, but do recall the world at that time- 6 million had just been slaughtered in Europe. Leaders were not thinking clearly. That it played out that way is certainly regrettable and unjust. But even so, the situation could have been totally different had the Palestinians been able to move beyond ancient ethnic and religious hatred. Which they still can't. And your analogy is still terrible.

Of course, it is awful that 750000 Palestinians were displaced 80 years ago. It's awful that Israel even needed to be formed. But they had and have a legitimate claim to the land which could have been recognised at the time but wasn't.
 
Its like i live in a house for 40 years and some guy gives MY house to someone ELSE without asking me if i want to sell it first and without taking in account that this house already is inhabited by me. Its crazy and insane .. So whose fault is this? Who gave away other peoples land ...USA or UK i think?? Its crazy and its madness ..its actually very fucking sad seeing innocent people die from both sides.

The best thing that could happen right now would be Jesus and Mohammed both appearing to the world together, naked, and holding hands. Super gay best friends. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Not the prophets you want, but the ones you need.

I'm more inclined to favour this position when it comes to the native American's, Australian aborigines, and other peoples who have been similarly displaced or colonized. But that's because those people have cultivated a spiritual culture that has real potential and value greater than our own (but which we fail to see). Islam has not achieved that (or Christian's or Jew's), and only manufactured a poor imitation of such a thing, and in which case I reduce the 'potential' down to a more base level of alleviation of physical suffering. In such a case, the people of that area are infinitely better off making friends and working with the colonial state (given it can't be rowed back now) than actively fighting against it just to hope for a return to some pre-medieval era of life with no true hope of salvation or evolution of their humanity. What's the point of aiming backwards? This is what I meant when I said what is these [free Palestine people] next thought after freeing (destroying Israel) Palestine, what are they actually going to do?

If it weren't for the oil in the Middle East and the subsequent fake opulence of giant steel and glass towers in desert sand that the West imported, the Middle East would still just be a desert waste of loveless bitter tribal nothingness going nowhere fast. The smart Arab states understand this and have realized they don't want sweaty sandy buttholes for the rest of time, they want to modernize.. which is the best thing that could happen to them, because then maybe there's a chance (given more time/space/security for the people) that they may evolve better ideas from within and move away from religious and tribal barbarism. Maybe.
 
I see the Israeli government has just stated 'No power, water or fuel until hostages are freed'.

But the hostages are the only reason Gaza hasn't been utterly flattened.

Undoubtedly Israel has the forces to destroy Gaza but at the moment they are focussing on comparing Hamas and ISIS- likely so the US will give tacit support to the 'war on terror'.

But the one thing I don't think Israel needs in this situation is physical aid. It's quite capable of destroying Hamas, it just needed a narrative in which the world would allow it.

Considering that the vast majority of the people living in Gaza aren't terrorists, such an action would be genocide.

A poll from 2021 showed that 53% of Palestinians supported Hamas, at least in comparison to Fatah. I'm pretty sure many of that majority don't support beheading babies but still, it's not as if Hamas are a fringe group. They are absolutely mainstream.

And this notion that Israel needed an excuse, like the recent massacres are just convenient for them. Hamas have been openly calling for the eradication of Jews in Israel for at least the last decade. They've had a tacit justification for extreme action for as long as Hamas have been using that rhetoric and yet haven't actually flattened the place. Makes me think that, far from being a convenient political reason for destruction, Israel are currently doing that wild thing of believing what their enemies are saying about why they are massacring innocent elderly people, women, and infants, and are now responding as literally every other country on earth would.

Bogus analogy, because you left out the part where the Palestininans lose two wars. You also left out the part where the Palestininians attacked a rave.

But yeah if you lost two wars and then attack a rave, people would expect you to give up your house.

These are your biases which are clearly phenomenal and racist. The thing has nothing to do with religion i believe and you know what ..sometimes the evolution is recursive and not linear in time and salvation is personal not collective in nature .IMO
 
Seems like liberals in the US have had this unbreakable political alliance with Muslims ever since the GWB era. "Islamophobia" became tantamount to racism, sexism, or homophobia so they became a protected class in their minds. And somehow this protection has given them immunity from any kind of criticism, even though in general they hold the most fundamentalist beliefs of any religion worldwide.

I don't like any religion, but I respect those that have at least modernized their views and tried to blend in with society. Christians and Jews have pretty much done that across the board. Yes, there are still extremists, but they are generally shunned by the establishment. For some reason Islam is held to a different standard. Just imagine in an alternate timeline where Hamas was a Christian terrorist group. Do you think there would be leftists rallying in the streets for them?
