Israel is bombing the same places that their hostages were being held.
If they stopped the bombings for one day, the hostages would be freed according to Hamas.

If Hamas wanted to "free their people" (note: 2.2 million people would still live in an open-air prison, but the political & military prisoners would at least be back in the open air prison with everyone else) then they could just unconditionally surrender according to Israel.
