I was just wondering if other people had any similar experiences to me.
I have known a few people since they had been straight-relatively- and out of the rave scene. They didn't used to make fun of "drug fucked" people, however as soon as they started going to raves they saw a couple of really screwed people and made it quite clear what they thought of them. ooh i'll never be like that!
Yet, this scene drew them in and they started going more often, and trying new drugs. It wasn't a slow process only in the last few months have the changes become really noticable, as their whole lifestyle has adapted to drugs and going out. Even so they couldn't see themselves approaching the 'fucked up' point, and still look down on those who are over this barrier.
I saw them out recently and they were completely fucked yet still in denial of it. They still can't recognise how far they have slipped from 'recreational' use, and poke fun at other drug fucked individuals.
The changes include the misguided notion that: the more drugs you take obviously reflects how cool you are, hence i am sooo cool! But, they cannot even realise that they are on the verge of being completely wrecked; as they have no outside influences apart from this scene to give them some dose of reality. Having a whole new group of friends who are completely whacked, and not spending any time with older more straight normal people...The list goes on.
Relatively within this scene they are not the most rooted people around, so they still believe they are "above it all". But the way they are going they will be soon.I can only hope that they will pull their fingers out and get a dose of reality before it is too late.
If you read this and know me take a good look in the mirror(at yourself it could be you). I am not the only one who is worried.
