As it turned out all she prescribed me were hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5/500. I've actually had to take them for the pain, surprisingly enough, but I've done it by crushing several and water-extracting them, rather than simply swallowing the pills.
So, twice I've had 15 mg (or less, I guess, since I'm probably imperfect at the extraction proces), mainly just to get a feel for the stuff. It has noticeable effect, but not strong. I feel vaguely fuzzy annd drowsy and not inclined to do much about anything - not that I "don't care," but that there just isn't caring to be done (did that make sense?). I randomly itch a bit in various places.
I'd forgotten, though, what a CNS depressant codeine is for me; the last time I had it was when I had codeine syrup in the eighth grade (um.. ten years ago) for a non-productive cough that just would't stop. It flat knocked me unconscious from a single dose. Now, this depressant quality's fine right now, when I took it about an hour after waking up. But the night before last, when I took it when I was already sleepy, it produced a very slow heart rate and breathing, and I was afraid to go to sleep for fear I might not wake up. I "knew" that wasn't going to happen, not on 15 mg (actually 20, since I'd swallowed a pill the normal way about half an hour before taking three more via extraction), but I was still afraid of it.
All in all, this is okay, but I'm not sure I like it enough to investigate higher doses.

No drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power. (P.J. O'Rourke)
