is there a scene in ct?

Just because CT isn't exactly blowin up the spot with the massifs doesn't mean the scene is dead or gone. It may have moved into the bedrooms (or living rooms!) for a little bit but that's ok. We're still far from a "finished product"
The people that truly love this music haven't gone anywhere and it's up to them to educate and help our thing grow. There's plenty of love if you know where to look...
WORD!!!!
"Ma brutha' from anotha' mutha'!" WTF is up man!? lol!
Ha... was that only like the SICKEST house party you've ever been to or what?? lol "living room" parties RAWK...

oh dont get me wrong, there are mad cool ct heads that would die for their music. Completley awesome people that I would put my life on the line for, its more or less the goverment that sucks, because they shut everything down. Look at that open air free party that was supposed to happen in the hartford area, im sure they noticed theres no way that CT can make any money off it so they shut it down.
The ct goverment is shady, always has been always will be, theyll allow you to have a party if its a "club party" maybe we should start holding events that sell liqour so we can pawn them off as club parties? I mean odds are there are more REAL drugs at the clubs then there are at any given ct "rave" So i wouldnt worry too much about some 16 year old taking e at a party, because odds are its fake if he/she bought it there.
As for the living room parties, its all about the puerto rican judo.
Judo know what we doing, judo find out ;)

That was the siiiiiiiickest house party ever hands down Teddy. And that shit will be done again hopefully in the next month or two. But give me a ring tonite (Wed) cause i got news of another smaller one happening this weekend. We will set the mood for this one too. As for the scene in CT...i dont know if it can come back from where it is. Our gov't sux ass so badly. If there is a party goin to happen anywhere outside that hole we call the Muni, it always tends to get shut down. Who the fuck knows...I just know ill still be goin to Mass and NY alot still.

is that your webpage? Im wiccan as well :) There really isnt any "loop" like weve discussed in this thread, ct sucks ;)

Yup, that's my site (14 years as Witch)...and yeah, CT sucks (I'm fully aware, been here just about all my life...lol). Like other people have mentioned even the Muni has gotten to the point of being intolerable (because at one point I did like going there). I think I'm going to be making the attempt to get back into the swing of things and I'll be hittin' up Skool'd to see Dieselboy. With any luck I might meet some new people up there **peeking around the room**. More than anything I just want to find some other party kids to hang with and go to events with...gets lonley going alone all the time. :(

Your post made me long for the System days! Your right, the vibe at System was great, System is what got me going to parties and everything. I remember those summer nights on the rooftop there!! Oh how I miss it.
I bet I will either love or hate Matrix, no inbetween. I hope some of that old System vibe is revived. I will definitely be there opening night!

it seems that there are quite a lot of ct kids wanting to party, but no where suitable to do so. are there regular clubs that rent out their space that have a good sound system? remember, we can always throw our own parties :)

That's a good question...I think that most of the places that are any good are already being used for weekly parties now and I don't know if anything around here would hold enough people for a really big party. New Haven area places seem to be getting more into the techno/rave scene but the New Haven cops really don't like the people that frequent those events.
I don't know if anyone else remembers WAY back when the Tune Inn was around and Fernando was doing afterhours "rave-type" (I use that term losely) events. The cops went nuts and pulled out every lost city ordinance they could to make him stop and eventually they did...I believe it had something to do with the fact that there was noice after a certain hour and there were apartment buildings within a certain distace from the club. The other clubs that have afterhours events down there are fairly "connected" (like Gotham Citi) so they don't get hassaled much.
It'd be nice to do some parties around CT, but it seems that finding a place that's decent enough to actually hold one in is the big issue. The event that I was working with at the Tune Inn reformed and moved over to the old Alley Cat club (I can't think of the new name it has now) shortly after the Tune Inn shut down. I know that one of the guys that is spinning there on Sunday night also spins at Limelight and his main thing is trance and drum n' bass. Maybe that place would be worth checking out.
just my somewhat useless $0.2

clubs that will most likely allow renting:
The Roxy in Norwalk
Lava Lounge in Stamford(MAAAYBE, but beware of raids, hiring cops is a must)
I've always wanted to rent out a bowling alley and hold a party there, i wonder if theyd let us do it?
Plus there are many abandanded buildings/out of buisness warehouses that we might be able to get permits for, but whos not lazy enough to do it! i know im way too lazy, im a good brainstormer though :)

well the key skate in queens is a skating rink....
id like to throw a party sometime
it would take a lot of effort, and id have to talk to a lot of people who have done it before
but it would be nice to have a small party with only locals, to help build up the scene/community
i know a lot of people wouldnt go because they would want people who had big names... id rather those people not be at my party :)
we'll see... just an idea stirring around in my head

I know a couple of dj's who spin jungle, hip hop. I also know a couple of hip hop acts that could perform and tear the stage up :) If i had a full set, id tear it up for free. Who needs big names? all you need is good music/people :)

I know quite a few DJ's as well, spinnin everything from hip hop, jungle, trance, and breaks... I know every one of them would spin for free if given the opportunity. I think its a good idea...there are a lot of skating rinks in the state that would probably rent out for a party...i know there is one in torrington that has a few times before.

Nice, we are getting a whole bunch of people who are willing to play at an event(most likely for free). As for pa equipment and sub speakers and all that. I know a bunch of people with some, as well as my friend who works in a music store where they rent speakers out. He can definatley get a discount, if people are interested in a hip hop/acid jazz/rock band they are reaaaaly good, they would always be down to play.
I think this is quite do-able, if anyone wants to speak to me about it you know where to reach me, peace :)
