Bupe Is it worth doing a sub taper if you taken 1mg for 4 days?

I've taken sub the last 4 days to combat some codeine withdrawals. I was only taking 90mg codeine on and off for a month. I started at 1mg, then next day took 0.8mg, then 0.2 and then on forth day took 1mg (mistake as I thought I was taking 0.2) so anyway should I just stop now or carry on tapering? would it not just build the bup in my system even taking small dose?

thanks guys.

Honestly, in your case the sub is just gonna make the withdrawal that much more worse. It's way, WAY more powerful and addictive than codeine and i'm not sure why you are taking it in the first place. It's for those whole are severely dependent, dabbling in codeine doesn't meet that criteria imo. Stop now

The codene withdrawal is gonna be nothing compared to the sub withdrawal. Should of just spotted the codine and dealt with the minor discomfort

This. Getting on suboxone for 90mg's of codeine was a big mistake. Bupe is much much stronger than codeine.. like exponentially so.

1mg buprenorphine = 40mg morphine = 400mg codeine.

You raised your tolerance significantly.. You should have just stopped the codeine, because now, the withdrawals will be 10x worse than what you would have faced.

This is why people need to do research before taking something.

You think even tapering off would be a bad idea due to the long half life? Our just stopping cold turkey right now. What do you think would be better/easier?

In this situation, just stop everything completely and deal with it...any taper, in your case, will probably make it worse...

Bupe works for profound chemical (opiod) dependence, for anything less cold turkey is the best way. Anything else and your just adding to your misery in both intensity and time.

Thanks guys, but can you really get withdrawals from a 4 day bup stint? no more then 1mgs? I read quite about short term stints on sub and many seem to have success with having no withdrawals, so was just wanted more opinions. Am sure the codeine would have been out of my system now.

^Hey man, I can see why you got freaked out by the way we worded our posts...

Basically, what I was meaning was:

You weren't even using long enough, hard enough or a high enough dose of opiates to where you would experience any withdrawal symptoms whatsoever...

To jump from that to buprenorphine doesn't make sense in this case. You run a greater risk of becoming physically dependent on the bupe, with a much higher tolerance and a bigger "habit" than you started off with...

In your case, you'll still most likely experience very mild withdrawals, if anything
,if you just stop now...It was only four days, so I don't think that's enough to even have to worry about it....Two weeks would be a different story!

Buprenorphine is really only good for people with at least a moderate physical addiction...You go into it knowing that you'll be dependent on the bupe, and then taper down. Ironically, it's a very easy drug to get physically dependent on...

You'll be okay for now, but once you get a taste for opiates, it's difficult for a lot of people to shake..

^^

This. If you would have just stopped the 90mg's of codeine, you most likely wouldn't have felt any withdrawals at all, or very very minimal. But, the fact you only switched to bupe for 4 days saved you, because if you'd been taking it for a couple weeks or something, you would have really screwed yourself (look back to the dose conversion I posted before of codeine to bupe to realize how much stronger bupe really is). So,be grateful you now know what the deal is, and didn't take that bupe for a long time. If you just stop now, you'll probably have very slight withdrawals, but if you keep taking the bupe at really any level, they'll just get 10x worse.
