Is it possible to use oxycodone to get off suboxone?

I've been on suboxone for 5 weeks, and want to stop asap. Can I take oxycodone to replace the suboxone, then just wean down the oxycodone? Having major back/hip pain, and I'm more afraid of addiction to subs than the percs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Suboxone withdrawls a bitch. Lasts a lot longer then reg opiates. But for the couples days of quiting suboxone you prob won't even feel the percs cuz of the way suboxone works on opiate receptors. But after that you might get some relief. How many mg's of sub do you take daily?

I'm confused as to why you wouldn't just, ya know, taper down on the suboxone. I mean, yeah, you can use basically any opiate to taper down from any other opiate. You could use dilaudid to taper off of fucking codeine if you really wanted. The question is as to how easy it's actually going to be to maintain any given taper schedule in regards to both dosage measure and timing, and whether the drug you're planning to taper with is really going to make it any easier than it would be just tapering with the drug you're already using.

There's a reason suboxone is usually the one that's used for tapering from things like oxy. It has a long half life, as a partial agonist it doesn't tend to get you terribly high so there's little temptation to eat through everything you have, it's fairly easy to measure doses and schedule it out...

So basically the answer is yeah, sure you can use oxy to taper from suboxone. It doesn't make a ton of difference, just decide what you want to use, carefully design a taper schedule, then stick to it. I still think that's a really absurd decision to make though, I feel the general consensus would be that oxy is much harder to taper with than suboxone, but hey, it's up to you...like, there's no chance that you maybe just want to do a bunch of oxy and are trying to convince yourself you want to use it to taper as a means of justifying it to yourself, right? I really just can't conceive of why someone with a regular supply of a drug so widely used to taper as suboxone and who was legitimately, 100% only interested in tapering off would think tapering with oxycontin would be a better option...

I almost forgot, bucci has a point. It's not that you won't feel a regular opiate for a few days after taking suboxone, it's that due to suboxone's high affinity for opiate receptors and the resulting blocking effect of suboxone, depending on your suboxone dose you're going to wind up having to take more oxy to get the same effect. But again, this is 100% dependent on your dose. For me I've gotten myself down to a relatively small dose of suboxone, maybe 1-3 mg a day taken in .5-1 mg doses, and I know I personally can use suboxone then go a few hours later and boot up some dope and barely suffer any blockage from the suboxone at all (one of the many, many advantages to maintaining a low-dose while on suboxone). On the other hand if you're on 8mg+ a day you may wind up having to either take a fairly large dose of oxy or wait for a while.

But again, that's what I mean about the whole switching over thing. It would be so much less complicated to just taper with the suboxone, but again, whatever, it's up to you.

As long as u have self control it's 100% possible and unless u wanna be in bupe wds forever it's a good option. Basically just switching addictions then u taper the oxy quickly or just jump off completely and you'll just WD a few days opposed to like a month or more. Paws still exist but that's expected

Addiction is weird like that half the time when I was actively using heroin I didn't even realize the crazy justifications I was making to keep drugs in my system until I got clean.

Talk to your sub doctor(if you have one) and tell him you want off. I'm sure they would be more then happy to come up with a plan for you . Or grow some chest hair and cold turkey along with help from support groups like AA or NA.

To the question from 2014. I have done it, it is possible. I was using the 8.5s for almost 6+ months. I had gotten down to about a fourth of it a day roughly. Every time id try to stop I would feel the withdraws for days. Not as bad as coming off of 180mg of Oxy a day but there was enough discomfort to make a difference and going through 10-12 days of it would not have worked. So I decided to amass a 90 count script of 15mg oxys and the first week went kind of hard, probably 75mg a day roughly. The first 7 days I didn't feel much but I could feel it. I could also almost feel the withdraw of the Suboxone still. That buprenorphine is sticky stuff, it binds to the receptors like glue. On my eighth day i only took 15mg at 7:30am and did not take another till 3:30am the following morning. It was uncomfortable but I was okay, a little goose skin, very mild. I also stayed in bed turned off my phone and turned on my ps5. It was hard to stay interested but i felt quite determined at that point. From that point on I could easily navigate my consumption to what I wanted. I was happy to be a recreational user again. Some may not agree with me and that's fine but the drug is not bad its the relationship you have with the drug that's bad. Good luck and don't give up, there is always a way back to where you want to be. Feel free to dm me with any questions you may have I will share what I know and my experiences if it helps.
