My ipod has all of a sudden decided not to sync with my Windows XP equipped CPU. I have followed the "5 R's" on the itunes website, to no avail. A couple of interesting problems have presented themselves. First, my USB ports are all OK according to my computer, but my ipod and external hard drive are only working intermittently. Also, my ipod doesn't show up as a device on itunes, though it appears under "My Computer". I have called Costco to see if they could help, and they don't really know what to do. There is an apparent "error 1434", which seems to be some sort of registry error. Also, they sent me to the Apple store to look at the ipod, though it turns out there is really nothing they can check on an ipod Classic (160GB). The guy there said to make sure we got the XP service pack 3, which we did.
I know for a fact that it is not the ipod itself, as I have hooked it up to another computer, and it synced just fine. Also, since I am having problems with the external drive, I know that my computer is part of the problem, I just don't know exactly how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
