Hi Justcharming, I'm glad you found us and have been posting recently. I have noticed you around :) <3
I can relate to a lot of what you've been through. Please don't feel like your problems are redundant because you're a bit older. Things like this can strike any one of any age, at any time. It doesn't make you any less worthy of help or of the feelings that you have etc.
I look forward to seeing more from you around here hun <3

depression/cutting/migraines

Thank you Neo(hope that is an OK nickname for you)~
Currently I am fluctuating on my depression. Am taking Paxil, but it feels as though it isn't working as well as when I first started.
Am taking 30ml(one and a half pills) a day, but am thinking I should just bite the bullet and take 2 pills a day. The Dr told me to, but ARGH I hate taking that much. Not sure 'why', because I take the vicoden all day long---however, I DO feel that making me feel good.

Sometimes I still feel like cutting---I don't do it, but the thoughts come up when I am really in my depression or feeling very stressed out. One would think after so many years I wouldn't have those thoughts. And I KNOW that cutting doesn't solve my problems/feelings...but the urge is still there and when it hits it is strong.
Have had those urges(and USED to act on them years ago) since I was 16. That was about 40ish years ago. Imagine!?? All this time??!

Am wondering..does anyone here get migraine headaches when there is a full moon? Every month I get a 2-3day migraine when the full moon comes around.

Hope to keep posting and make some friends.
Perhaps some of my experiances can help someone out along the way.

Certainly is hun :) <3

I can really empathise with the urges you still get to this day of cutting. Like eating disorders, they never really leave us, it's just all about management of the thoughts and emotions.

If your doctor has said to you before that you can take 2 Paxil a day, and if you feel like you might need to, then just trial it for a month or so. Then you can assess if it's really helping you or not. You just need to be really super-aware of potential increases in thoughts of cutting or worse, and alert your doctor immediately if that occurs. Do you have plans to cut down/quit the vicoden??

Interesting that you mention getting migraines around the time of the full moon, I looked in to it and it seems that a LOT of people get the same thing. I couldn't find any definitive data from proper research which could support the claims but there are theories out there that the increased gravitational pull of the moon and the sun combined (i.e. when a full moon occurs) can cause enough changes in the human body to alter people's behaviour and medical conditions etc. Very interesting indeed.

depression/cutting/migraines

Hi again Neo~
First off, let me just say this....I made myself(by accident obviously) 10 years OLDER than I am!
Am(ONLY) 46 years young. Not(egads) 56. ;)

You know, I have read to that the migraines are due to the gravitational pull. It does feel like that to me as even a change in barametrc(sp) pressure affects my migraine activity.
When I drive into the city, the altitude is quite a bit higher and at times I can literally feel it causing a migraine. Also, I always feel like a totally different person when suffering from a migraine. It just changes the way one thinks. Guess any really bad physical pain can do that.
Not to mention..well (ugh) I am at the age that my hormones do hideous things to my body. =(

The cutting thing...that has happened to me with a different antidepressant---lexapro. I started wanting to cut many times a day, and knew it was the pill. After so many years on/off of different meds, I can tell when something isn't "normal" for me.
Thank you for taking the time to mention that. ;)

Right now I have no desire to quit or cut down the vicoden. I know it can't be good for me, and yet right now I feel like I am very addicted and do not want to stop. Frankly, it makes me euphoric and I don't want to give that up.
It started our for severe back pain....by now am not really sure how bad my back is, since I take the meds all day.

Thank you so much for your responses. Nice to have someone to chat with that doesn't judge me. =D

Bluelight first timer...

I came across this site trying to find answers about Opana and I'm so happy I did. I am actually the wife of an X Oxy user, but now uses Opana. He used to inject Oxy and had an infection in his arm which caused a hospital stay for a week. I believe the only thing that saved his life was that he was incarcerated. Since then, he snorts Opana and sometimes finishes his Rx too soon and looks for pills on the street that are comparable to Opana. I'm looking for answers and suggestions as to how to support my spouse. I've tried NA meetings and haven't found someone I can really talk to yet. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Please?

^^ Hi there D&C, welcome to The Dark Side <3
Is getting some one-on-one drug counselling an option for your husband? Sometimes the group therapy thing just doesn't work for some people. You could start by mentioning it to your regular doctor, but it's something that will need to be dealt with really carefully of course because he is actually prescribed the Opana, which I'm assuming that means he does actually need it for medical reasons? So you'd want to make sure it's a doctor you trust isn't just going to cut off his prescriptions when they hear he's abusing them...
I have no personal experience with opiates though and there are hundreds of people on here who do so I'm sure you can get some better advice than from me :) Check out our Heroin/Opiates thread here in TDS.

Thank you so much for your responses. Nice to have someone to chat with that doesn't judge me. =D

No worries hun, this is a judge-free zone so I hope you feel comfortable sharing stuff in TDS :) <3

Hi BL.

I am just an opiate fiend in the proces of breaking out and also am here hoping to hang with very similar people and personalities as myself (which BL has an abundance of) and learning more about substances/chemicals etc and their affects (on all levels) on people and why and where they lead (initially/eventually and finally) and methods used for all stages.

I really like this forum.
J.K.

I get these awful stress headaches from hypertension in my jaw. It's just so maddening knowing that my jaw is clenched and every time I realize it and let it go slack, the next thing I know is my jaw is clenched again. Life's funny that way.

It always seems like I'm that one percent that ends up getting the bad side effects. Most SSRIs trigger hypomania for me, and its not good energy, its the bad kind.

hullo everybody!

prescribed: prozac and seroquel. for anxiety i think.
Not really sure why, but i've been taking my meds irregularly.. haven't seen a psychiatrist in awhile, going on monday to discuss possible ADD and to hopefully go off the SSRI's because only recently realized why MDMA wasn't effecting me like it supposed to... sighs!

Hi hells angel, I'm from Sydney too! Welcome to The Dark Side. Well done getting off H too hun that is awesome :) <3

And welcome to you too dtr, let us know how your psych appointment goes if you like. If you do decide to come off SSRIs just so you can enjoy MDMA, I'm telling you now it's not worth it man. Depending on how long you've been on prozac it could take many months, even years to feel the effects of MDMA like you're expecting to. I've been off anti-depressants for nearly 2 years now and MDMA still doesn't do anything for me so I don't even bother trying it anymore.
Plus, please keep in mind that MDMA will only make your anxiety much MUCH worse in the long run so please be careful.
Good luck with your appointment :)

^^ Welcome to The Dark Side, you've come to the right place :) <3
Congrats on getting clean, that is a huge achievement!

Hello fellow blue lighters! I have been reading the threads on here for a couple of days now after randomly stumbling upon this site and I must say I have never seen anything with the quantity and quality of information on some of my favorite subjects (opiates) as on this site. I'm looking forward to posting my thoughts and opinions with like minded people.

Hello, everyone. I've been a long-time reader of TDS and the rest of BL, but only recently decided to sign up and start posting. My world completely fell apart several years ago due to polysubstance abuse and bipolar disorder. I managed to stop using everything, managed to find very effective medications to treat my disorder, and managed to graduate with honors with my first college degree. I am pursuing my next degree while working in the mental health field. I mostly do peer counseling, trying to help others with bipolar disorder get their lives in order.

I have just over two years of clean time, but I stopped doing the NA thing a while ago. For me, proper treatment of bipolar disorder was enough for all of the pieces to fall into place, and NA is supposed to be for people who weren't as lucky. Unfortunately, in my area, taking psychiatric medications is sort of frowned upon at the meetings that are close to me so I only pop in once in a while to check up on old friends.

I just hope to contribute as much helpful information as I am able to and to give others who have a mental illness some hope that successful recovery and life-long maintenance is possible and very much worth it.

^hey man it's really nice to hear your story of success. You seem like you are driven and have a great future ahead. Hope to see you posting more and staying on the right path. Welcome and good luck :)
