So, during being labeled "5150" (During an episode of Kloni-Rage, brought on by 10mg Clonazepam single dose)

5150 in California meaning "Danger to self and others"

So I was under an involuntary 72 hour hold in a Mental Hospital (somehow I prooved I was not depressed after my countless talks with therapists there, pleading my innocence, and I was the only one in a quite a while to be released before 72 hours)

I read a paper during signing some forms for my discharge, and it said...

Outpatient Diagnosis
AD/HD
Anxiety Disorder N.O.S.

Inpatient Diagnosis
AD/HD
Anxiety Disorder N.O.S.
Depression
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Insomnia (Acute)

Did they JUST diagnose me with 3 more things
OR
Did they REDIAGNOSE AD/HD and Anxiety, and diagnose 3 more things

They basically brought up ADHD symptoms during therapy because they saw I couldn't pay attention for shit
They also saw when checking my Vitals, my first vital's pulse was 70-80
The rest of them pulse was 109-129 and they THEN AGAIN sent me to therapy for anxiety

^this is why I think they might have had to re-diagnose or maybe have evidence the disorder still existed to list it as inpatient diagnosis

Re-diagnosis.

Everytime you see a new shrink they re-evaluate you.

I went into a ward with chronic anxiety, Bi-polar and came out with Bi-polar, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, sleep disorder, panic disorder...

Heck they love to label you... I've been to 6 wards and always seem to pick up new "disorders" and then the same old - but only if they believe you actually have it.

I can tell you the Acute insomnia isn't fun

3 hours of sleep friday night
3 hours of sleep saturday night
3 hours of sleep sunday night
3 hours of sleep monday morning
39 hours awake with an under 60 minute nap before I fell asleep tuesday night at 11pm-12pm

At the moment I'm on hour 17 awake thursday morning -_- god dammit

I've been like that for years. I get to sleep between 1-3am and wake up at 5am or I don't sleep at all.

I've currently been awake for 35 hours myself.

All of the regular sleeping medications fail basically unless I hammer them hard.

I was drinking and took 3mg of Lunesta during that 39 hour bs

I was even on 6mg lunesta earlier

AMBIEN works perfect for me!
Yet, I don't have any

Yeah Addy, Tripman is right, psychiatrists tend to start from scratch when they meet someone, and re-evaluate things, especially if you have been admitted. They take past history into account of course, but things change, and it is important to look at how a person is right at that moment in time. I dislike all the labels that are stuck on people too -- psychiatric diagnoses are often names psychiatrists give to clusters of symptoms, much like pattern recognition. It makes it easier to communicate things and to know what treatment might work if a disorder has a name, but I don't believe that psychiatric disorders are neat, discrete entities in the same was that a lot of physical conditions are..

If you are seeing an outpatient psychiatrist (which I imagine you will be after this) I would discuss this with them and see what they say.. and if the labels bother you, discard them in your head. They are only names :)

I'm going to move this to The Dark Side, as it's not really a BDD style question. Glad you are out and I'm so sorry about what happened to you <3
