How valid do you guys think all of this is? I'm going to put it all in a "as a matter of fact" sort of tone, because it all seems true.

A study was done on the growth of muscle mass. The subjects had the muscle tone of their fingers measured - they were then were divided into two groups. One group had to practice finger exercises and finger weight-lifting for a set amount of time every other day; the other group didn't do any exercises, but instead was merely told to "imagine" doing finger exercises.

After a few weeks, they re-measured the subject's finger muscle mass, and both both groups had a significant increase in muscle mass. The group that just "thought about doing exercises" had nearly the same amount of muscle growth as the group that actually did the exercises.

It is well-known that stress causes the release of cortisol (I saw it on an informercial), which causes the body to store fat and lower its testosterone level.

It also seen that males who have gone through a negative transition in social status (getting fired, wife/girlfriend breaking up with you, losing in a competition, etc) will result in a decreased level of testosterone.

BUT testosterone levels can actually be raised from things like physical activities, positive social feedback, and even things as simple as being motivated for something - or having a proactive mindset.

Even things like penis growth, body hair, bone growth, muscle growth, and deepening of the voice can all result merely from thinking about them.

Here are some lifestyle things that I think help keep testosterone levels high:

1. Fuck a lot. Think about sex a lot. Not the whole "Oh I feel sorry for myself, why can't I fuck hot chicks like those?" type of bullshit, but the "daydreaming in class about wild orgies and imagining what the hot girls in class would look like with your dick in them -- then walking out of class all bent over and awkward-looking because you're trying to hide your erection." Studies show that having sex ATLEAST once a week is almost vital for keeping your testosterone levels high.

2. Don't schedule your life like its on autopilot. Chaos and unpredictability are something you need to have in life, otherwise your body has no reason to be strong. When you often have to adapt to the unknown, your body prepares itself for challenges.

3. Have a set of beliefs that you've gained through personal experience and while thinking for yourself. When you're your own master, your body and mind do not have to handicap themselves to prevent upsetting your so calld "superiors". You don't have to wait for other people to encourage your success in order to activate success, you can just pursue your own success.

4. Drugs. All the ridiculous shit in life doesn't feel like a burden anymore once you're able to find meaning within experience itself.

5. Become an expert or a connoisseur at something useful/awesome/badass.

6. Learn how to live off the land and be self-reliant just in case something like the collapse of civilization happens. This way, you won't feel like you NEED society. You won't feel bound to society. And this gives you the upper-hand whenever you are bartering/haggling with other people.

7. Eat broccoli and other shit like that. Broccoli and cauliflower lower your body's estrogen levels, and in effect caus your body's testosterone levels to rise.

8. Work out.

9. Sleep adequately.

10. Don't let some woman suck the life out of you. When you're with a girl, act like you don't need her, like you're just letting her hang around... those fucking bitches love being treated like shit.

What do you guys think? How valid do you think all of that is? Mind over matter pretty much. Have some personal accountability.

I agree with some of that...it is a fairly common phenomenon with steroid use with the first couple of cycles or upon adding a new compound to a cycle to "feel" like the compounds are working much much more than they actually are when you first start....in simpler terms a person doing their first test e/cyp cycle, will feel that after only a couple of weeks they are already way stronger and that it's the result of the test, when in reality they are stronger as a result of pushing themselves harder in the gym from being anxious about the cycle...test e/cyp takes around 21 days to saturate the blood and begin affecting the body, however there are some androgenic properties that happen as soon as it is injected, but numerous studies have shown that test e/cyp take a minimum of 4 weeks to begin working so changes are seen in the body as a result of the compounds and anyone who feels that they see them earlier are experience some psychosomatic effects.

I completely disagree with that finger study. That is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. There are too many variables involved with the control group. Who is to say what they were using their fingers for on a daily basis just doing normal tasks. The fingers/hands are the most used parts of our bodies for the most part, so you can't just tell the control group not to use their fingers hands to do stuff. I call the scientists that did this study morons to the nth degree.

The brain/mind controls everything about our bodies, so it is somewhat feasible to think that you can increase testosterone by thinking about it, though I would think it would only be slightly to almost negligible, otherwise it would be a big medical breakthrough and there would be no need for AAS.

"Even things like penis growth, body hair, bone growth, muscle growth, and deepening of the voice can all result merely from thinking about them." - BS...you might convince yourself that these things are happening, but you aren't just going to make your dick grow bigger by thinking about it. The body doesn't work that way.

Test levels rise and fall constantly and are affected by many things. Psychosomatics are only a way of convincing yourself that things are happening when in fact they most likely aren't. There are no scientific studies that legitimately prove any type of psychosomatic thought processes actually cause significant, real changes in the body. Most show that these things are all in the person's head.

My take on the list you have

1. Sex has been shown to dramatically increase free test in males in many scientific studies.

2. Adrenaline has been shown to increase test levels in both men and women

3. I'm not sure about this one, though being in complete control of you life does give you a much better sense of well being

4. Be careful with recreational drugs as many of them have been shown to increase estrogen levels in men, though nothing too dramatic but prolonged use could have a dramatic effect. Contrary to popular belief Pot has not been shown to decrease test levels, though it does dramatically slow down sperm and possibly lower sperm count. Cigarettes and alcohol also raise estrogen in men as well.

5. This goes back to giving yourself a sense of well being.

6. Same as #3 and #5.

7. I've never heard of broccoli or cauliflower or any foods for that matter that actually lower estrogen and raise testosterone. If that was the case Dr.'s would first tell men with high estrogen and low test to eat more before using any drugs. However they do have a profound effect on fat loss which can lower estrogen and raise test.

8. Nothing to say. This one is a given.

9. Adequate rest has been shown raise test levels dramatically while lowering estrogen pretty significantly.

10. That's a pretty piss poor attitude to have. While I don't totally disagree, nobody deserves to be treated like shit just so you can get a piece of ass. You'll be better off being respectful. I'm kind of an "old fart" and been around the block a time or two. Young guys just don't know how to truly treat a lady these days. Truly is sad.

I will firstly admit that I have only the vaguest recollection of this study you are talking about given it was years ago when I read it but my recollection of the study is that the endpoint measured was not muscle mass gained but strength in one particular finger movement gained.

Therefore the study proved that strength gains are not solely dependent on muscle mass. Which we all kind of know and take for granted.

And as psychosomatically raising testosterone levels I think it is possible to raise them but you need a trigger such as watching an action movie you are really interested in, playing a competitive game of paintball with a bunch of mates etc. I doubt you could sit in a quiet room for 20 minutes a day and contemplate your testosterone levels into rising.

Although I like thinking how you do, and prefer that attitude with women, experience has shown me that the exact opposite is more prone to be true.
Women like stronger men - the best way to measure the strength of a man is by watching him compete, and/or pushing him to his boundaries.
Stronger men mean stronger babies -- a principle which both men and women know subconsciously.

Genes have a lot to do with this. How strong you are or are not isn't going to change your genes.
Still, in order for the efficiency of a person's genes to be determined, that person has to be evaluated during life.
Life is the testing ground for whether or not a set of genes is good or bad.
Not to mention, the self-defeating idea "its not my fault its my genes" does nothing besides demotivate a person.

I think you were missing my point. When I said what I did, I meant it in the light that how strong you are purely is irrelevant, because your genes are more important; and is only 50% of the equation. Unless, of course, you are trying to clone yourself.

Someone's genetic potential doesn't necessarily have to be met in life either for their genes to be validated either.

I do agree than genes rarely leave someone incredibly athletic without any training to add to it, although we all know a few guys who keep abs and have wicked arms with little to no work. Strength is an individuals journey. many boys born to strong fathers start out skinny and normal but some take it to another level and stand out above others through years of focusing on the body as a project.

if mental depression effects hormone and neurotransmitter levels then I assume well being and aggression has a notable effect as well in the opposite direction.

i've practices mental training like this while relaxed, just imagining hard work on a certain muscle and the muscles tend to activate and flick/flex a bit when I really imagine how the action feels. I can see this having an overall benefit to your nervous system and ability to fire these muscles at will. I'm skeptical about gaining mass from it, but increases in strength can often be attributed to being able to use the muscle better. mental rehearsal SHOULD have an effect. mind and body are one, and the mind is telling the body by thinking about training, that it will be training in the future and to prepare for it.
