juxtapoze has proved that. everything else will come into place after uniting the scene for the common good. we all have the same agenda so why splinter that common consensus for the sake of individual needs?
I don't think a business can take the example of a single-nightly weekly as a business model for their multiple, on-going nights. Tuesday night @ Mel works on Tuesday night @ the Mel; it may not translate to an bar that's open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday.
Nor do I think the average bar needs to worry itself with the "solidarity" of local crews. In fact, a bar should be beyond that, neutral. A bar that picks sides is one destined to fail when that crew inevitably goes out of favor -- and all crews go cycle in and out of favor.
Pulse, Tru, and Blu would all do well to get involved in "scene politics" as little as possible.
"Scene solidarity" and "crew politics" should be left to the crew, not the venue. This is a business, folks, and a venue has a lot more to worry about than whether Seth's crew and Jack's crew (just to name two) get along. In fact, for a single night, a single Tuesday, for instance, a promoter may feel the pinch of leaked animosity. I doubt a night club will have to worry about that, so long as they are staying out of it and showing that they have no favorites.
Pulse, to keep the example, have other nights to fill, many of which will be unmarred by any scene politic goings-on. The average punter -- which, sorry, is
far more important to the bottom dollar than some folks seem to want to give them credit for -- doesn't care about scene politics. The moment Pulse starts playing favorites (beyond the "so-and-so promoter brings the heads and such-and-such promoter leaves my bar empty"), then they'll have to deal when the inevitable fall-out against that promoter hits.
So while George and Taylor and Jack and Seth should concern themselves with solidarity amongst crews, this is
not Pulse's concern. And if Uriah chooses to concern himself with such doings, it certainly shouldn't be higher on the list than getting some sort of POS for the bar and, yes, parking.
Sorry, George -- this may be your #1 concern, and I'm happy that you are so concerned with it, but this is something the bars need to stay out of.
