I attended.
Lots of mixed feelings.
If it had to come down to good/bad it would just barely fall in good. Good because it was better than a typical night of Djs at a local bar....Good because it was better than sitting at home and doing laundry. I will have to say that true effort had to be put forth to meet people and mingle with people. The tent was the shit. I will say that Stage/tent/lighting/Sound system setup was ON POINT, dancefloor quality for an outdoor show was perfect, considerations for a flyer table were advantageous to the scene and most of all the VIBE on the dancefloor was GOOD, people were moving and grooving and that is essential to an party.
People at the door: Super Chill.
Lack of invasive scary Adulty "Security/Staffers" all over the place : simply wonderful. Didnt see one cop on way in, while i was there, or on the way out: awesome. Attendance was....well I'm not sure, it was like there were enough tents for 1,000,000 people and not that many people. SPEAKING of people ( most Djs aside, old school/new school kids i know, aside,
especially the way cool kids i met from out of town..........The second biggest bummer of the whole night was the general VIBE coming from Most people there. They were just cold. Distant. Participating yes, but not very OPEN to new ideas or NEW People. I walked up to a couple campsites that acted like I had just walked into their
actual homes without knocking....... others who basicly refused to talk and yet others who just didnt know how to handle the whole ::: WE ARE AT A CAMPOUT SHOW/"FESTIVALISH" - THING, THIS ISNT LIKE YOU'RE AT A STATE PARK ON A PERSONAL CAMPING TRIP OR IN YOUR YARD AT HOME OR ANYTHING......
IF YOU WANT TOTAL PRIVACY GO IN YOUR TENT. THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE FOR, ON THE OUTSIDE YOU ARE RESPECTFUL OF PEOPLE, CURTIOUS, UNDERSTANDING, POLITE, OPEN TO MEETING PEOPLE THAT YOU *!(gasp)!* HAVE
NEVER SEEN BEFORE, OPEN TO TALKING TO THEM, ANSWERING THEIR QUESTIONS, SHARING THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS AND SHARING AN EXPERIENCE OF INTERACTING WITH OTHER HUMAN BEINGS THAT IS AT THE HEART OF ANY PARTY EXPERIENCE. Communicate.
dont get me wrong: there is a certain amount of personal space around your tent that one may not want a parade of people going through, buggin you and tramplin your stuff there is a point and one just has to find that balance. Maybe I'm old. Too observant for my own good. Care too much about people and the party scene. But I would like to help both and do so by example as well as through IDEOLOGY.
Thank you very much for thowing this event to all who did so, excellent short-drive option on a Sat in Indy. I will conclude with the #1 biggest bummer of the whole night(now remember I'm a raver): My brakes were just screwed enough to keep me from going to " Dude Where's My Tent 2"
