Immigration discussion

The natives i.migrant indian labor they can not pick as many peaches bins as the Mexicans. We rely on them to pick the fruit as the peach varieties come into season . Peaches have a fuzz over them and as I drive open tractor to pick up 2000 pound peach bins I see the Mexicans wipe a peach of fuzz over their chest and continue same in southern cali with pistachios they the best . They can pick as much as 10 12 peach bins a day weighing 2000 pounds each the other immigrants half that. I have never seen people so dedicated to take shit just to provide for family back home .
How to stop corporate greed since supreme Court ruled corparations can donate as much as they like . When poor people think billionaires from both sides will help them . Farm work is so.much differant feo. McDonald's its is hard dirty and then they head back to the migrant camps and hav who shit in the fields . Try picking row crops bending down in the cali summer 104 f farmers know their value california crop industry will fail

I have actually. I've worked with a few folks in therapy and heard their stories. Have you asked them why they came here the way that they did?
Yeah, but all I heard was no comprende

Medicaid cover their therapy too or was that outta pocket with unreported cash?

I never said that - you sure like to project all sorts of misguided nonsense. You should read a book and take a class sometime as your lack of intellect and education are on full display.

I don’t care about being some over-degreed intellectual with student debt. I have more money than you and it wouldn’t change my outlook that illegals need to be shipped back. Thanks

Medicaid paid for it. I'm grateful to live somewhere that offers basic health coverage for all people regardless of their ability to work or their status.

I could give a fuck about money. Who cares?

But really, is there a problem with all the illegals besides that silly old steal, rape, and murder thing?

Is there an issue with SSNs and/or the IRS?

Surely that's the only means by which they are getting gov't money, beside the cell phones and debit cars they are handed when entering illegally, no?

That service is to help migrants file their taxes, it isn't directed at people who entered illegally but rather people who are here on asylum

Migrants still do file taxes, they're trying to help the migrants meet their legal obligations staying in the US

The only middle ground we’ll reach on this is that I agree the system needs to change so that the path to eventual citizenship can be simplified.

If these people keep their nose clean and pay into our tax infrastructure after coming here on work visa or aslylum, we should make it easier down the line

Illegal entry’s from the get-go, freeloaders, and criminals can get fucked

My point was that the video is being used as propaganda to trick people into thinking that illegal immigrants are somehow filing taxes without an SSN or tax ID. It's just absurdly stupid

Patient of mine was born in Dominican republic - he was a rapper, ran a club and was making a life for himself as he hit 20-25 years old. Cartels see his club getting hot so they want in and start coming to parties with guns and whatnot. They start extorting him and his friends, making them pay out, and when they refuse, his friends get killed.

So now he's alone - living with his family trying to figure out what to do - he opens a butchery and starts running that. Business picks up, becomes more successful, cartels show up and want ta cut - he's got no friends to back him, so he runs.

He ends up in Brazil, trying to catch on working with some guys on a fishing boat - they give him some work but tell him that they have a way to get him a work visa in the US if he wants to go with them, everything's taken care of. They show him documents that look legit, explain the process etc. all looks legit.

Suddenly he's in a cargo container being shipped through mexico to a camp on the texas border. There are armed guards who are telling him that now that he's in the US, he has to pay them 30,000$ and the rate goes up the longer it takes. So he's at this camp, trying to figure out what to do, and ICE shows up and busts the coyotes (the dudes from the fishing boat who he thought were his friends were human traffickers trying to force him to to work to make them money). While ICE is arresting the guys, he runs and finds a car with keys in it, drives to a bus station and then takes a bus to some family he has in the North East US.

This was a kid who was just trying to survive and find a place for himself in the world, in a way that you have never fucking had to even consider. Do I think that he deserves to be arrested and locked up, shipped to some compound in el salvador?

Absofuckinglootly not.

I have no problem with immigration as long as it's done legally and in reasonable numbers.

But giving out medicaid to people who don't deserve it, to people who haven't paid anything into the system yet, is ridiculous. The issue is close to my heart. I am on medicaid.

This is no longer the land of opportunities. I don't want freeloaders taking away from my American dream, which is almost gone entirely for me.

I absolutely agree with all of this. Thank you for one of the most rational and intelligent posts in this thread. I especially appreciate the lack of hyperbole and name calling. Well done!

Aye, the judge's role and responsibility is to interpret the law as written. For example, recognizing if they have jurisdictionon a case before making judgements. Fingers crossed there is a judge higher up that can overrule this overreach by Boasberg. Oh, lookie here (and in the abcnews link below clearly stating the lack of jurisdiction on the case)....

But, Boasberg still wants to hold the DOJ lawyer in contempt for not turning a plane around midflight. Yeah, ok, that's truly absurd and highlights how ungrounded the judge is. If he does, that'll likely get slapped down too. Boasberg, by 'random selection' has gotten assigned the bulk of the hot Trump cases  Maybe some of the cases have legal merit, but they don't all go thru him. Once some othes are given proper venue, we'll see how it goes. In the meantime, Boasberg is hanging himself. Repeatedly.

But let's stick to the topic of the dearly deported, shall we?

@nuttynutskin - you in US or another country? I'm not aware (not that it matters, just curious). I don't recall seeing ANY persons deported for a speeding ticket. That's a civil fine, not a criminal violation. If you can link to such an instance, I am certain we'll find more to their deportation than a speeding ticket.

As to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS protected by the constitution, yes they are to a degree but not to the rights of a citizen.

The court's majority made clear, however, that migrants removed under the AEA authority must be given notice and "afforded within a reasonable time and in such a manner as will allow them to actually seek habeas relief in the proper venue before such removal occurs."

Lol he's not an ms-13 member and if you read anything beyond Trump media you'd know that he was actually fleeing the country to escape ms-13. The fkn administration admitted it was an error! He was also found to have no criminal record in El Salvador or the US. But go ahead and keep advocating that people be kidnapped and sent to CECOT with no criminal record. Insane.

I hate to be that guy but I'd really like to see the official source or report on that. Is it available? Because that's fucking infuriating. Really grinds my gears...

I'm very slightly skeptical, because DOGE has also misidentified some cases of social/medicaid fraud and took it away from orphans. Legal citizen orphans. His team also lacks a bunch of qualifications and many are ironically immigrants themselves working off visas.

Mate, I haven't a clue where to start. I made a 20 link post...which one you looking for more info on? :ROFLMAO: Not making fun at you, more at myself and how I dump so damn much in there even I don't know what you're referring to.

On the bit about taking benefits from orphans? I'm not following. I could venture a guess that illegal immigrant children are getting cut out, butyou say 'Legal citizen orphans' which I can honestly say I've heard none of. Not saying it didn't happen, and not sending you on a fishing trip, but 'to be that guy', can you point me towards any article on this?

Hey @TheLoveBandit - Elon and you sit at a table with an immigrant. Someone brings over a plate with 100 cookies. Elon takes 99 of the cookies and then looks you square in the eye and says 'Watch out! that illegal is trying to steal your cookie'.

There's so much wrong with this weak attempt. First, I don't like cookies. Been quitting the for years. Second, Elon came here as an immigrant, who to date has created a LOT of companies (and thereby wealth for himself, his investors, and his employees)....and stolen? Nothing. You present a zero sum gain, only 100 cookies, when there is so much more available to all of us this is a silly exercise. I get that your point is intended to be 'billionaire Musk steals and tells you the immigrant will'. That isn't what's happening, and I hope you can see that. He hasn't stolen anything. He IS pointing out waste and fraud. Does he/DOGE get some of it wrong, yes. Can any mistake be corrected? Yes. Is there fraud in the systems? I say yes, what say you? Is it just the immigrants taking it? I say no, what say you?

DOGE's claimed numbers, like 3 million socials given out to illegals, and 1.3 million of said illegals receiving Medicaid. I do not inherently trust anything coming out of DOGE, especially when FOX is reporting it.

Bro it was such a hassle for me to get medicaid even tho I desperately needed it for so many years. These mofos been here like a few months, don't have a birth certificate or any other things, and they get it that quickly? That's fubar.

If you removed immigrants out of the picture, they would have a staffing crisis and would be forced to raise the pay, which would in turn attract natives to fill the roles.

Or break the company if it can't afford the wages employees demand to do the work.

Take a look at In n Out, they pay about 2x minimum wage and have all native staff. Their food costs less than McDonalds, is higher quality, and everything is better.

Fkn love In'n'Out. Props.

It's corporate greed, not the job itself, that is the issue with filling roles that "nobody wants".

A few decades ago McDonalds was staffed by all native white people. It's not that they don't want to do that job, it's just that they don't want to do that job for minimum wage. Especially in this economy.

It's a broken system created by end stage capitalism. Our economy is addicted to undocumented immigrants.

It isn't just greed, it is a bit more nuanced or complex, however one might wish to phrase it. Yes, corporate greed may be a factor, and likely is in some cases. In other cases, it is regulations that take a chunk of that profitability and send it to local/state/fed gov't. Keep in mind the owner is the one who either put their life savings into creating the business or mortgaged their life to a bank/investment company in order to get this up and going. If they can't make the profit they feel they need to make, they'll give it up.

I'd gladly share what I have so that other humans don't have to suffer. We have enough wealth as it is.

Big difference between me and you and that’s fine bud. We don’t have to agree.

it's a point we can all agree to disagree. Everyone has their take on the situation - how much support the needy should get, how to define that need, who should pay for it, etc. Also with @tryptakid 's post, each of decides how much is 'enough' to live on and how much we're willing to give, and to whom. I don't believe there is a right or wrong, just different views on the situation. Arguing a perspective is just that, a perspective.

Donate and spend all your money since it’s yours, I got no problem with that and you should stand for what you want, but for Christs sake don’t tell the rest of America they have to 😂

He isn't. He's saying what he would do. I'm right there with you in that anyone telling me what to do gets a finger right quick followed by an FU. However, someone wishing to tell me how they'd handle a situation, moreover WHY they would handle it that way, I'll listen to them. May not change my mind but at least makes me better able to understand that person and others I may come across later.

I'm not pandering, I"m living up to my values. You have no values which is why you grovel in front of power... because you're too afraid to stand for anything that isn't given to you by someone stronger.

I'm a man and I'm not afraid to stand up for others.

Kudos. There are a LOT of people in the world who simply virtue signal, talk a game online but don't do shit in the real world. Rare is the person who will stand by their convictions when facing harsh realities.

Ok, now I get where you are coming from and fully agree. DOGE appears to take a first look at something and spout off how absurd the fraud/waste is. Sometimes we've heard it walked back or corrected, othertimes there's nothing at all beyond the public exclamation!!!! Reality is I take anything they say with a HUGE grain of salt and wait for a more in depth review to actually determine what is what. I don't think they do it for headlines, but that's possible. I think they do it out of ignorance regarding what they are looking at. Though, I'll maintain patience and hope that at least the majority of what they 'find' can be distilled down to truth and some corrections made, some fraud killed, some waste eliminated. And idgaf how close they get to their goal of $2T (I think that was the goal?), I am just elated that after over a century we FINALLY have someone looking into these things instead of allowing it to continue, unchecked, unwatched. I'll accept the errors that come with it, and that can be fixed, but my gosh just looking into it is something generations overdue. I also hope however they go about 'fixing' things sets in place guard rails against this kind of waste/fraud creep in the future. At a minimum, cut it back down*, but fingers crossed about leaving it in a state to run healthier and not revert to bad habits.

*Here I agree with Musk's statement of 'Of course you will cut too deep. That's the point. Cut too much so you can see how much you really need to add back in.' For me, that is FAR better than leaving bad elements in place.

the trump administration, and doge specifically, talk a lot about criminal fraud in government departments which they're godsent to uncover and end.

how many incidences of fraud have been turned over to the justice department for criminal prosecution to date? if it's so widespread, somebody's been charged with a crime, right?

alasdair

Pam Bondi as head of the DOJ is disappointing a lot of us on the right. Maybe it is because she doesn't have her staff in place yet, so she us undermanned. I just searched and can't find what positions are still open, only know I heard her #3 is still in queue to be reviewed.

Epstein list was a tremendous disappointing flop. What you point to, and many, many others that the right wants to see investigate/prosecuted, simply aren't happening. Certainly not to the pace we'd want, nor the rest of Trump's staff seem to be operating. I hope it is a staffing issue and we will see improvement near term, or she will need to be replaced. From what I hear, she is pretty good...so, waiting to see.
