Immigration discussion

It's why I try to remind my conservative friends that we're not too different, you and I.

It's why I like talking with @Electrum1 and @Jnowhere and others who have conservative views. In th end, I'm more social and I think the state should focus on building up social capital..I realize that my way wouldn't work for Jnowhere who lives outside of the city. What good is that going to do him?
I also think rural conservatives forget that cities pay for their infrastructure, they pay to maintain their roads and their internet and their electric grid, so they can have cheap peace and quiet and drive their giant toy trucks while I ride my bicycle to the grocery store instead of driving so I can save money.

I HAVE been to China and they have far more poor and homeless people in far worse conditions. It’s considereda developing country for a reason. I don’t think we have accurate data on China’s suicide or incarceration rates, but I would not be surprised if the US is doing worse in that regard. But probably not by very much. All the West is suffering from a severe lack of identity and meaning, unlike China which still has a collective identity. The Chinese are also much more conformist and thus less likely to use/abuse drugs. Crime is also much lower in a racially homogenous state.

China is far more authoritarian and exploitative, though. China has a much longer history of ‘racism and barbarism against immigrants and other minorities’ - that’s why they eradicated virtually all of them and are 92% Han Chinese.

The US does NOT have the resources to improve all these issues whilst trying to save the entire world at the same time, especially considering the extreme debt.

People all over the world care even MORE about their identity than those in the US because white people are still have the least group preference of all races.

China pollutes VASTLY more.
Why are you trashing America, do I need to remind you about Kaiser Wilhelm or Adolf Hitler? You got America looking like Amatuers at causing misery. If this place sucks why are you moving here.

Also I have seen your posts they seem to indicate a rather disturbing
political bent; am I wrong or is your interest in race a little too suspicious of hmm🤫🤔🫡

I sorry did you somehow get the impression That I am poor like you?
Dude you really have no clue about me. I am modest in my life style but poor, ha ha keep thinking that.
I didn't say you were poor. But, compared to the people that make decisions and are running this country into the ground and hoarding all of our countries value yeah, you are poor as fuck, and you have no real say in what happens. That's how it is for everybody, not just you.

Yet, for some reason, instead of focusing your energy on critiquing those people and looking at ways to improve things for all of us, you spend hours spreading fear about Mexicans, Muslims, Catholics, fckin Justin Bieber and just so much more. You've got way more in common with a poor Muslim immigrant than you do with Donald Trump or any other shitty politician that nominally agrees with your views.

You're not an idiot. After reading a lot of your hateful rant over years now, I just think you should reevaluate where you direct your ire. Because it's misguided. What little power we do have in this country, can really only be fully harnessed as a group. Individually spreading fear and hate and rage about immigrants and people that are different from you, literally accomplishes nothing for anyone, other than a neat way to put more hate anger and bullshit into the universe, which we already got plenty of. But, all of that that is your own business, I just think you're smarter than that.

But, if you really are blessed financially, you've confirmed that money certainly can't buy happiness.

90% of us have no representation.

You should listen to him @Jnowhere - he's not talking at you, he's trying to relate with you.

Money never leads to happiness. It buys access to things that can provide happiness, but to me, happiness comes from human connection.

Why do you assume that he fears immigrants or wokeness? Maybe he just prefers to be around his own people, people who share his values?

Do you fear white people and conservatism? Or do you just not find them fulfilling personally?
We've read his posts for like a year or two. He says nasty shit all the time, about any type of person or forward thinking concept you could imagine.

I think most of us fear the unknown/unfamiliar. It's even harder when you've got other stressors to worry about as well.

I more concerned with the Afterlife, and defending my home till: The Good Lord says it is time to leave.

Erikson's stages of development.

I'm in a stage of building and maintaining stability and structure so that I can hopefully have kids and create an opportunity for legacy.

You sense that the end is near, so your views are more around maintaining safety from threats while focusing on transition to the hereafter. I can understand that.

Everywhere I’d want to live has major issues - but the US has the least, has the best laws and the best people. I think it’s one of the few places in the West that isn’t utterly doomed.

Acknowledging flaws is not ‘trashing’ something.

I don’t, which is why it’s difficult for me to relate to that perspective.
I don't sense that you do.

I don't fear the unfamiliar either (I think you and I have a common bond despite different vantage points - which is likely explained by our own existential context).

I think that there are many who fail to remember the wisdom of that JFK quote - The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

Yes, I agree we seem to be alike in that sense.

But regarding fear, it can be very useful - that’s why it exists. My lack of fearlessness in most aspects of life has gotten me in trouble (though it’s not without benefits). And in the areas where I do have fear, it has helped me substantially. I think what’s important is acknowledging your fears, determining whether they are valid/useful or not and modulating how you can respond to them to best achieve your goals.

My fears are of:

Zealots and true believers, liberal, conservative, religious, atheist, tech - all of the above. If you see the truth and want me to see it the same way, I'll give you a wide bearth.

I fear war and suffering because I like communinion with others. I like community and culture and the ability to spend time in music and art - conflict disrupts these things

I fear my own impulses and do active work through therapy and spirituality to reconcile with my shadow.

I mostly just enjoy the unknown. I like things that I don't understand. I live in the weird.

I agree on all counts. Not out of fear - but because I see those as undesirable and destructive. As is narrowmindedness/avoiding the unknown.
