I finally did it! I've been hopelessly addicted to heroin and methadone for the last 3 - 4 years and it has been absolute hell. I had numerous attempts at cutting down, detox methods etc lots of attempts posted on here in OD section. Anyway I found out I was covered on my parents health insurance and went to The Priory North London start of July.

Detox wasnt a detox at all. I was on 70ml methadone and using about .6 - 1.75g of gear a day. They gave me 70ml 1st day then 50ml the next then 30ml on day 3 then nothing.. It was ABSOLUTE HELL, hardest thing I've ever done, didn't sleep a wink for 12 days!! Full on w/d's for 3 weeks, cant believe I made it!

26 days clean today, still not sleeping properly, no energy, achey, but it's getting better!

Rehab was all NA/CA/AA based and I'm sticking with it, can't get my head round it properly, but enjoying the meetings more and more...

Had to share this with you,,, I really thought there was no hope and if you see the posts I made trying to get off it ud agree!!!

cheers,oli

That's a great accomplishment! Keep doing whatever works for you. My opinions on 12-step programs in the other thread have to do with my own path, I do not intend to convince people to leave if it is something that works for them. Enjoy your life now :)

Keep at it bro, relearn to appreciate life for what a miracle it is. I find being out with nature, going for a hike or fishing, or just watching the wildlife therapuetic

Whoa nelly. No sleep for 3 weeks? Gotta give your props on getting through that. Now, try to start building your endorphin system back. Take a jog, try using melatonin for sleep, and most of all...start enjoying life again! Congrats!

Thanks a lot guys!

I'd completely lost interest in everything during the worst of my addiction. Gonna be nice to get some old hobbies back.Gonna start swimming again and even little things like tonight I'm starting to get my MP3 collection going again. I pawned my last computer including hard drive with years and years of cataloged MKV, MP3, AVI etc on it to score a bit of gear!

You've remembered what you really love!!! It just gets easier from here. :) (Not that it won't be hard, but you'll appreciate what you're gaining back so much that it doesn't feel nearly so bad.)

This is excellent to hear oli!! It's really important for The Dark Side that we hear people's success stories so thank you for sharing this with us <3
Keep up the good work!!

Aww, reading this made me happy. Congrats! Try some melatonin for sleeping, and some exercise too! Keep up the good work :) :) You can do it.
