I'm a talented 16 year old with constant feedback for my acting skills. I am 5ft10 I weigh around 50kg, I have a 6 pack only because i'm skinny, although I have done work on it. I am good looking facially.

I haven't tried out singing properly, and dancing is easy. Ad my relatives have said my mum was a very good singer, nobody has heard me sing and I can't judge myself on singing.

Where should I start off? A friend recommended an amateur preforming arts group which I would attend 1 day a week. In September I will also start my A-Level Theater Studies class.

I know its a hard game but I think I have what it takes. I would love to possibly be in an advert(s), or play any sort of parts in any films.

I think you're on the right track. You're at an age where getting with the right people is extremely important. Get involved in your arts and theatre community and the rest should fall together.

Best of luck.

Okay, thank you.

yeah for real the best idea like Cyc said is to get involved in local arts & theatre. no matter what profession a person is, there are two fundamental ways to excel: 1) being in the presence of like-minded individuals and 2) PRACTICE!

but you can be an amazing actor in your hometown till the end of your life without ever gaining notoriety. so sure, get involved in local stuff while you finish up highschool, but plan to move to a city where there are lots of tv shows and films being produced (eg. LA, NYC, Vancouver) as soon as you can afterwards and try to land a spot in an acting school in one of those places. if you arrive there with some experience already, your odds of being accepted go up dramatically (no pun intended). getting into an acting school is obviously not necessary to success but it's a good idea because it will enable you to immediately get surrounded by people who are also actively pursuing leads and through that network you can find out who/what/where/why/when things are going on and build some roots in the industry quickly.

Thanks for the help. It's all been taken on board. I'm so serious for this.

Being Gay helps. No I'm not joking. It really is an advantage if you bat for the other team. Kine like being ambidextrous I suppose :-)

Have you looked into improv groups? As an actor, and especially as a comedy actor it seems this sort of exercise is exactly the kind of thing that would help you out. It would seem like this will give you some rigorous training you might not receive elsewhere.

EDIT- Wow, this is an old thread.

i recommend being born into a family that is already in the industry and then changing your name to throw off the public.

... To be an actor is no joke. Are you as good as leonardo dicaprio? Are you as good as Alpacino? Are you as good as Ethan Hawke? Are you as good as Jim Carrey? If your acting ability can emulate this benchmark of acting then don't hold back and go all the way with your dream. Also keep in mind that social/interpersonal skills are just as important as your acting skills, you will have to network with the right people, it's not all about acting. In fact, networking is probably the most important thing in getting into hollywood ...

Angelina Voight and Carlos Estevez are the only big names that come readily to mind. Is that, like, standard operating procedure in Hollywood? I wonder how many familial traits I've failed to recognize in movie stars...

Many actors ride in on the coattails of relatives. Others include: Nicolas Cage, and Drew Barrymore, along with lesser-known names like Zosia Mamet (Girls), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), Nick Cassavetes, et al.

RE OP:
I've heard that the best way to get into the business is to start on the stage (where many actors are not only discovered, but which many prefer long after their careers are well-established), and once you're set there make a play for L.A. and/or various casting calls.

All the power to ya bud. Though to be great performer it isn't about how you look or being the "triple threat" (act, sing, dance) if you want just fame then ya sure. But to achieve greatness as an actor and to go down in history and forever remembered for impacting people's lives as a great performer like Al Pacino, Denzel washington, Deniro, Jack Nicholson you must inject your whole essence and soul into a role, you must develop your ability to transform at will into an entirely different person. You must study people, really make yourself feel what the character is feeling. If you think having a good look will get you anywhere other than being in teen beat or a modeling career you got another thing comin. Real people want to watch people with depth and personality not just a pretty face or a six pack, though if that is your goal then go for it. Just like how in music there are plenty of musicians who are famous for their looks but because of their brainless boring cookie cutter music they will NEVER be remembered as anything (if they are even remembered at all) other than puppets controlled by corporate slugs or the physical embodiment's of the passing trends of their generation.
Go watch some old Pacino films for inspiration. First as a viewer than study and analyze. You'll see the passion and passion my friend is what will get you there.
