I want my Psychiatrist to order a PET scan.

I’m not sure that a PET scan would give you what you are looking for. Brain scans in general are good at finding things like tumors, or whole regions that aren’t activated, but it is hard to derive really specific information from them.

I wouldn’t tell your doctor about bluelight to convince her. Even at the best we are kind of fast and loose about science, and the good bits can be buried under the rantings and ravings of us drug fiends.

If your heart is set on getting brain scans, look up neuroimaging studies looking for volunteers. If there is a university with a hospital near enough for you to visit, many of these have loads of studies looking for volunteers. I’ve done them to make extra money in grad school, and one time I got an fMRI of my brain done while doing these games where flashing boxes appear really faintly, and I have to press a button if I think I see one.

No skin off my back. I might move this thread to science and technology or something, as I don’t want to encourage doctor shopping for medical imaging, but I there could be some cool discussion on brain scans and what they can do/their limitations. Nice seeing you over here from the pit though!

i really didn't realize i was in S&T at first


i shoot xrays - that's about all the medical imaging i can lend my expertise too

i worked MRI for about 2 months years ago as i thought id really like it - but i hated it and i stlll love xray

there’s a certain approach to food that makes me see eye to eye with people.

I was thinking of mentioning that I remembered something like this, but i felt if you wanted to say it you would.
 
do you have empathy for others?

do you have emotions?

do you have an uncontrollable urge that makes you wanna scream and shout?
