I have been taking it for a month and when i skipped three days i realized how it has been keepi g my anxiety in check ? Ssris really work

I am back again but i would like to know would it still take a month again to start having effect like it did first time ? :(

I use 50 mg daily

It might not take a whole month, but going off for three days might set you back a bit. I've taken many different ssri's over the years and there were times when I forgot to take my daily dose. Or could not remember if I had taken it but not for 3 days in a row. Maybe someone else better experience and can share.

It will probably not take more than a week to get you back to where you had been previously. SSRI withdrawal is awful, and there's always that not knowing period where you're not sure if it's withdrawal symptoms or how you would normally feel. Luckily, three days is not a terribly long time to be off your Paxil (though it may have felt like it) and is not long enough to set you back to square one. Try to be more diligent about it; I'm sure you will after this experience, but it's hard on your body to go back and forth like that.

No. This will not help "get back to where you were" faster. Just keep taking your prescribed dose.

I've never taken Paxil but a friend of mine has. Just take your regular dose today or the next time you take the medication.

With a chemical like paroxetine hcl (Paxil), given that I have personal experience albeit 5-6 years ago, my guess is the discomfort you noticed after missing 3 days was more related to withdrawals than actually beginning to experience the symptoms that brought you to treatment in the first place again. (Not that the following is a real word, but fuck'em) Pharmacokineticaly speaking, paroxetine has a half life of 21 hours (assuming you aren't taking an extended release version, there are several) and time to peak plasma concentrations is approximately 5 hours after ingestion. It generally takes two weeks before a person would begin to experience therapeutic benefit after the initiation of treatment. Considering these data points, I am lead to believe that it is not as much about a difficulty in reaching the highest possible steady state plasma concentrations, but about how long you've remained at a high enough plasma concentration for paroxetine to alter your brain function. Essentially within 6 or so hours of your second dosage following your three days of misses I would think you to have a high enough plasma concentration to alter brain function in the way that you need. This being said it is more important how long you've been at that concentration than it is that you have actually reached that point, as I previously stated. So 30 hours from your first dose + 54 hours at a high enough plasma concentration would be 84 hours. 3.5 days is my estimate for how long it will take for you to feel stabilized. If any of that makes sense, good, if not I apologize. I'm not a doctor, but an experienced patient. Best of luck and don't hesitate to reach out to your prescribing doctor if you aren't feeling well. It is a simple fact that many patients will miss doses on occasion and find themselves feeling out of pocket so to speak and therefore many doctors will have temporary solutions to help patients as they slowly return to stability. This may mean increased dosing of paxil or taking a mild sedative for up to 3 days; it is simply important that you communicate with your doctor even if it means admitting to missing doses. Best of luck.

I have taken a number of SSRIs & SNRI's, consistently, for years. It always took 5-10 days without, after regular use, to result in any sort of a "brain zap" (their term, not mine) serotonin "bounce".

I take Effexor XR, which is somehow famous for being one of the worst withdrawals, but that's not been my experience. Paxil I took for a couple of years, while still under patent, and also found it not at all a problem to go a few days without.

I've lost track of messages for the moment, but return to it (or at least discuss it with prescriber) as soon as you can. If there is a Rx problem, many chain pharmacies will provide a short supply.

Just don't panic -- you'll be fine! :)

Ok i have just beeobeen on it for a month so still this early on it i wanna know if withdrawals will be hell ? And shat people experience is it really withdrawals or just returning to their normal anxiety state that they forgot about since ssri treated it and then think its just withdrawal ?

i believe you may get rebound anxiety if you stop it abruptly. the brain zaps suck though. from my experience, if i missed a couple of days the weird brain and eye feelings go away really quick once you get the dose back in your system. if you are worried about feeling anxious don't sweat it. things will be okay again, do you have any benzos you could use in the meantime to help you feel better anxious wise? even a tiny dose would put your mind at ease, the worst thing about anxiety is worrying about being anxious, i find that if you can relax and not convince yourself you are going to have a withdrawal, or get your anxiety back, it won't come back.

good luck~

i'm still on the zoloft and going to stay on it as long as it doesn't affect me negatively or stops working. i was terrified to go on it and actually asked to be admitted to the hospital for the three weeks it took for them to get me from 25mg a day to 100mg, because i was so scared of side effects. let me tell you though, every morning i would wake up terrifed and thinking of death, after my last dosage increase to 100mg i just woke up one morning and saw the sun and realized those thoughts were gone. i'm so grateful for that, my anxiety/hypochondria was spiralling out of control to the point where i was going to three different hospitals in one night because i thought i was dying.

My hypochondria and anxiety is bad too, i racked up 9,000 dollars in the last 7 months going to get tested for stuff. And im still worried! This really sucks and im sooooo tired of feeling like this. Buuut, i to, am afraid of side effects....would you tell hypochondracs/chronic anxiety sufferers to try anti-anxiety meds? Does it really change your life? I was in counseling for months, the counseling was great and it did help, but i stopped going because I've learned basically every coping skill i need to, and it helps. But my heart races and pounds for no reason, and i constantly feel like i cant still still, i worry about my breathing. But im afraid meds wont work and they'll just fuck me up..... i take xanax PRN, i refuse to take it every day.

i was super against ssri's but did a lot of research and decided to try zoloft in the end. i would absolutely tell a hypochondriac/anxiety sufferer to try an ssri. it really did change my life. i really had no problem getting up to my prescribed dose (100mg), except for worrying about it, until it kicked in and my anxiety dissapated. i too have gone to counselling and have learned a lot of coping mechanisms, that with the medication really help me. i also ingest cannabis oil sometimes for total body relaxation and do take clonazepam (mostly because i've been on it for 12 years and am kinda scared to go off it, it's such a granny dose .5 2x a day, i don't even think it really contributes to anything anymore than me being medically dependant on it).

i feel for you crunchy & neone. it consumes your life and destroys you. it's exhausting and depressing as hell. whatever you decide to do i wish you peace and tranquility in the end. i can only share my story, others may have different outcomes with medication. all i know is my life is so different now i've gone from feeling absolutely crazy to 'normal', or what i deem as normal for me now.

good luck! (((hugs)))
