I can't gain weight...

Some advice to the OP...

Frequency of meals is the most important factor to gaining quality weight while maintaing nitrogen levels..

Try to eat at least 25 grams of protein every 2-3 hours while you're awake...if you're at work, bring food...I'm not really a fan of protein bars because of their ingredients but if it's the last resort, then go for it...If you sit down and binge eat 2,000 calories in a short amount of time, you'll just gain fat.

If I don't eat anything for 4 hours, my body loses that "pumped" look and my sleeves on my shirt get loose....

Im a beginner also . I have a very hard labor job that consumes alot of my time so I've found that buying bulk simple things are key for me . I eat alot of plain yogart , cottage cheese , whole wheat bread , tuna , canned turkey, fish fillets ( I know the breading isnt good for you) , etc. The easier it is for me to just simply grab a couple of things out of the fridge , the more inclined I am to eat. I only spend a large amount of time preparing dinner as I always like to cook something different at supper since the rest of my diet is somewhat blanded even though it is simply effective .

I was also pretty skinny when I was younger. I was about 130lbs at 5'10 until I started lifting at 21. After 4 years or so (with a couple of big breaks in there) I'm 160lbs and a lot more cut.

Best way is just ensure you get 5 or 6 MEALS a day. If you find your having to force yourself to eat then your on the right track ;)

Dude you still don't weigh shit. I'm 5'5 and you're only 10lbs heavier then me.:| Not to knock you or nothing, but I'm just saying.

^If the OP really is an ectomorph, then his metabolism will still be fast at 50+. Don't know if he wants to wait that long to get his swole on.

And when an ectomorph's metabolism does slow down, the end result is more likely "skinnyfat" than "huge rippling muscles".

KeepJimMorrisonAli,

I've got a similar problem and it's taken me a couple of years of trial and error to figure out what works best for me. I think that's pretty important because everyone will react differently to certain diets and workout plans.

I've always been someone that eats quite a lot. As much as some of my friends who are almost twice my weight. That's led me to the opinion that increasing my intake is the wrong idea, I just need to eat the right foods. After all, you can end up building up lots of fat around your organs, which although unseen is very bad for you.

Since about september last year I have been doing weights reguarly and watching what I eat to some extent. When it came to christmas time I had managed to gain around 5-6lbs and my weight was pretty steady. This might not seem like much, but for years I've been unable to put anything on at all. Over that time I wasn't trying to eat more and my weight sessions weren't all that strenuous, but doing it reguarlly did make a difference.

Over the past couple of months I then started doing more intense workouts and having a protein shake afterwards. Again I have been watching what I eat, but still not overly so. This has really helped to add some mass to my muscles and although it is a slow gain, I'm putting on weight in the right places. I'm not an advocate of the 'two protein shakes' a day method. Body Builders who consume huge amounts of protein will have much greater needs than someone who is slim and not used to working out intensly.

When you are thinking in terms of healthy weight gain... I tend to plan for where I want to be in a year, or even two years time. You have to be commited and and take what motivation you can from the small gains. I haven't been following my plan entirely, but even so it has been working. (even with the occasional phet. use 8) )

Overall my advice is don't go crazy trying to make huge gains, just find a level where you are making slow but consistent gains. It might be hard to find what works for you, but something will. Oh and I would steer clear of the steroids unless your doctor recommends you make use of them. That would be another good idea - talk to a doctor and see what they have to say.

ectomorphs gain muscle faster and lose fat faster. They also lose muscle quicker if they stop using their muscles. An ectomorph that doesn't exercise will be skinny and not fat, one that does will be naturally ripped (not like super ruipped and huge, just athletic and a bit muscular.).

Are you doing enough cardio? Cardio is good for the body and mind, it gives me the strength to push out more reps.

correct..

OP---you have to force meals down your throat--even when you're not hungry...

The only supplements you need are a good protein powder and possibly some creatine monohydrate....

bodybuilding/gaining weight/fat loss is all about consistency...you have to do it EVERYDAY for an extended period of time....results aren't usually seen until about the 3rd week of incorporating a good diet and training regimen...

eat clean too..if you eat shit, you'll gain shit...get your protein from chicken, fish, and eggs....

I agree. I'd suggest whey protein mixed with whole milk (adding some sugar will increase calories) in addition to creatine. Also, to pad your daily caloric intake, try buying a meal replacement shake (Ensure, for example) to consume with your meals. Decreasing cardio sessions to under 15 minutes at a time will help you to gain wieght. Add stuff like avocado, almonds, coconut, and peanut-butter to your diet.

As already mentioned, using higher weights/lower reps. will help to shock your muscles into growing -- work muscles until failure.

After your anaerobic workouts, subcutaneously inj with ghrp-6. Then eat everything you can find- becaiuse you'll want to. Just 300mcgs is all it takes.

This isn't sustainable- the appitite stimulating effect of ghrp-6 wears off after a couple of weeks. Ghrelin on the other hand....

Anyway recomending peptides to someone who can't naturally gain weight is retarded. Would you give your brand new Ferarri to someone who couldn't drive?

They have just recently become really popular, although I know things like IGF-1 and it's relatives have been more exposed in the scene IMO...

I'm sure some BB'ers have been using them for a while though..The ones I hear of most are GHRP and CJC?

Alright so I have ALWAYS been a really skinny guy, my whole life people have asked if I was anorexic and shit like that. Fact is I eat a LOT and I just CAN...NOT...GAIN...WEIGHT!! Right now I'm nearly 6 foot and my weight fluctuates from 122-128 pounds. I really want to get muscles and I feel like steroids are the only option... I'm only 18 years old, so I don't want to start doing steroids right now because my bodies not fully grown. But my question was if there is ANYTHING you guys know of that puts your body in a muscle building state such as steroids, whether it's legal or not. I know there's this one thing that's legal and supposed to be just like steroids but I can't remember the name for the life of me.

UPDATE: Just came across these 'legal steroids' - http://legalsteroids.com/prod.html - Would these be worth the money or is it the same kind of scam as legal marijuana, giving you a slight buzz but NOTHING like the real thing? If it is real, given my situation, what should I take?
If you can't get in enough calories to gain weight without steroids, you're not going to gain all that much weight on them. Time to start counting your calories. Just to give you the heads up (I didn't read the rest of the thread), A LOT of calories is 5k, and make 30% of them calories from protein.
