Hey guys... I've been through 9 different withdrawals... opioids (oxy and hydro), ethanol, phenibut (the worst), antipsychotics (olanzapine and abilify), lithium (horrible), dextromethorphan (dxm), benadryl (diphenhydromine) SSRI's and gabapentin.

I am still alive and I DON'T KNOW HOW with all the suffering I put myself through. I also withdrew from barbs, but it was similar to some other withdrawals like benzo withdrawal... phenibut was the freakin worst, just stay away from it.. took 2 years to recover mentally. Ethanol was the easiest withdrawal (even after 3 years of daily abuse). Oxy and hydro gave me anhedonia for 3 days after stopping my addiction. Benadryl withdrawal made me paranoid and guilty about everything I've ever done, same with lithium withdrawal. SSRI withdrawal made me have nasty zaps and nausea and made me emotional (dxm was similar but less severe. Antipsychotics are worse on than the Withdrawal! Just stay away from all... except alcohol guys! Oh, and gabapentin just gave me RLS (restless leg syndrom) and some night sweats, no biggy.

I will post more so please look up some posts or p.m. me and I will give you my advice that got me on track to health, mental stability, and well being.

You are lucky on the alcohol--many people find that to be one of the most difficult. One thing that is true in both sickness and in health is that all of our bodies are different, though; and a psychological hurdle that can be very imposing to one person hardly presents a problem to another. But despite the differences in experiences with WDs, there are is probably more in common than not and I look forward to your contributions--welcome to Bluelight!

I would be eternally grateful if you could help with my situation:

I've switched (under the advisement of my dr., not that that means anything significantly positive) from Zoloft 100 mg -> Prozac (2nd day on Prozac 20mg;Zoloft 50mg); 24-hours post 5 mg memantine [tapering off of this to use Cannabis to manage my SSRI-withdrawal symptoms, that are compounded by having switched from Paxil -> Zoloft in June (developed an immune-compromised situation where I was getting old-person infections, like thrush, and bruises and cuts weren't healing), and by having repeated the cycle when I rashly tried to lower my Zoloft dose one month ago, so I'm not physically fit, and I Cannabis still doesn't quite feel as therapeutic as it does when I haven't taken memantine in the past week, so I'm still struggling to eat/survive. What would you do?

Herbavore (great name lol), your right. I was damn lucky, but got the absolute worst withdrawal from phenibut. In my research on forums and clinical research, it seems people get the worst withdrawals from benzos, barbs, alcohol (gabaergics), then second is opioids (which also upregulate NMDA) and then amphetamines from meth to MDMA. Oh, and nicotine, but its more physical addiction and we just shouldnt even do it cause no point right?

@cannabis.... dude... or duddet, idk... that is some extensive stuff! Memantine is an NMDA antagonist and should help, but won't help for crap if your on or were on all that other stuff! Weed can help but can also give negatove side effects, especially when the brain was changed from other Meds. Our bodies are supposed to create it's own serotonin, and SSRI meds are a temporary fix and as you mentioned... you withdraw from them. Best thing to do is run. Running daily boosts serotonin and BDNF as well as mops up excess glutamate, boosts neurogenesis and resets the brain. Also, you may have Candida, which is a bacterial yeast overgrowth. Those who take meds and withdraw get it from excess glutamate, just like I did. Bad bacteria LOVES being in excess glutamate. Stay away from glutamate foods like MSG, aspartame, yeast extract, and things like that. Eat greens and eat quality protein and good fats. Fish oil, zinc, vitamin B6, and magnesium threonate. I would quit the weed temporarily for maybe 2 months. Quit all drugs slowly by tapering and run every day, work out, eat very clean and healthy and your brain will reset. Trust me... that's what I did after my hell of 8 withdrawals over 2.5 years. All I needed to do was eat right and exercise and not be on poisonous meds. Meds are for SOME people... but not as many as are prescribed. We are allesses up on here, that's why we started taking drugs, and now we are messed up even more!!! Just gotta be healthy and push through the barriers. I remember my SSRI withdrawals, they felt like electricity every time I moved my eyes left and right. Gotta try and taper off. Or use low doses of dextromethorphan (dextromethorphan polystyrex works great) for a time. Dxm is an SRI (serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and will help, it's also an NMDA antagonist and a sigma 1 agonist. Just take low doses to help get you off the SSRI withdrawal.

Couldn't agree more if you can find the strength to exercise and eat right during that miserable time . It does seem to accelerate getting through the horrible days. I've also find that taking some benzos and the tail end of it and maybe a subox kills the worst days of it.
