Hydroxyzine or Flexeril for Withdrawals

I've been smoking pretty heavily for the past 2 years. Probably about 2 grams of homegrown a day or the equivalent in mids. I decided to stop on Sunday and I am feeling very uncomfortable right now. I took tylenol pm last night to sleep and i managed to get 3 hours of sleep and I just laid in bed the rest of the night.

I had a presentation this morning which was brutal considering the amount of anxiety i'm feeling and i'm sweating a lot.

What do you guys recommend I take for this? I don't want to prolong the withdrawals or anything, just something to ease them. I have gabapentin, hydroxyzine, and flexeril. which of these do you think i should take to help relieve my symptoms?

well i just took my last 2 hydroxyzine....

going to best buy now to buy the new call of duty with the last of my money to distract myself. then maybe the hot tub will help.

i now have a bunch of flexeril and a bunch of 600 mg gabapentins.

I wasn't aware that one could suffer from any "withdrawal" symptoms from weed, other than a simple craving to have it.

It's not physically nor psychologically addictive. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but that's always what I've been led to believe (and have found true in my experience).

Wait wait wait, your taking PILLS to help your WITHDRAWAL symptoms from WEED?...

Here's what you got to do, flush all those shitty pills and slap yourself in the face. Its all in your head and you need to realize that

i've been through withdrawals of almost every type of drug, and weed is no different. Anxiety, sleeplessness, etc....are well known withdrawal symptoms of heavy cannabis use.

anyways, if you guys aren't going to answer my question and just say withdrawals don't exist.

then please delete this thread.

sweaty palms, panic attacks, and general nervousness are IN MY HEAD. but i would like to take something to RELIEVE those symptoms. I don't care what you call it (withdrawal, craving, whatever i don't give a fuck) I'm just seriously uncomfortable right now and i'm wondering what would help.

Yeah, wrong. It's not physically addictive in many ways that drugs are traditionally thought to be, but it is psychologically addictive in the same way that any activity can be (gambling, sex, etc). There is always potential for mental addiction.

Anyway, OP, I have a script for 300mg gabapentin. I take gaba at night which helps me sleep and have more lucid dreams - this certainly could help with the sleeping aspect.

I do not think flexeril is going to help you out, unless you enjoy the feeling of being physically drunk while mentally sober.

Your best bet is the following: Avoid activities that make you want to relapse for a while. Movies, music sessions, couch activities etc. Get active, run, jog, bike, hit the gym. Eat healthy and exercise for a while to get your mind off of things. I don't think any amount of drugs will help you get through this -- you are only masking a craving for something that has non-addictive properties.

If you are self-medicating, that could be another story. I would give it a few days clean (especially if this is your first break in 2 years) and gauge where you are at then. If you feel like you've made no progress on your anxiety, talk to a doctor about it, however your options may not be something you want (script for benzos is the norm for most adults). But what will help best is getting your mind off of it -- get off bluelight! :)

yea i definitely don't want any benzos and i'm even hesitant to take the gabapentin. maybe my brain is just used to being slowed down from the constant brain fog its been in in the last 2 years.

I also was diagnosed with lyme disease 4 months ago and I have been using weed to cure the nausea from the antibiotics and to help relieve symptoms from the herxheimer reactions.

Gabapentin is extremely safe, perhaps as safe as weed.

It seems you have a legit use for weed in small doses, do you mind me asking why you feel the need to stop smoking (not that I am in any way trying to talk you in a different direction, just that my advice would differ depending on the situation)?

EDIT: Ah, the 2 grams of headies a day is certainly over kill.

i don't know....i just want to take a break for a little bit and see how I feel. Plus I've been spending a lot of money and I don't like being dependent on anything.

Ok im not going to bash you about withdrawal.

What i normally do is when i get to a point when i have to smoke alot to get high, what i do is decide to take a week break, Before going to bed sunday ill put away all my pipes/bongs, and go to the store and get alot of vitamins, and a package of bottled water, and i focus on trying to flush as much THC out of my system in 1 week as i can, and i focus on that, i try my hardest to flush my system and when friday night comes around i get all my stuff back out and blaze up, and its the best high ive had in a very long time, and once you realize how much better it is coming off a break, you gonna want that again, so your willing to wait longer, for a better high

basically what im saying, is focus on getting clean, and when you come back its that much better, and dont cut yourself short if you say yours going to wait a week, then wait a week, dont cut yourself short or give in,

Remember its Worth the Wait :)

It's good that you have that attitude. This shouldn't be hard for you to do, then. Like I suggested, give it a week and guage how you feel then. If you feel like you have to, write down how you are feeling on a scale 1-10 regarding anxiety, mood, depression. Do the same thing a week from now.

Stay physically active if possible and eat healthy if you can, these things will help you get your mind off drugs and back onto what you concerned about -- your health.

EDIT: Unfortunately, there is no way to "flush" your system of THC "faster" other than decent physical activity, and even then it is marginal.

well i will do that eventually....but my tolerance is so high now that if i smoke a very little amount, i would feel very little effects.

I think OP is making the right decision - smoking 2g of weed a day is way the hell too much. Take a good vacation and get that tolerance down, and if you start smoking again, smoke less weed less often. I can't imagine smoking that much in a day....

Good luck. Hope you feel better - as an aside, you've showed as online here all night. It might be easier to not smoke if you focused on something non-drug-related (though i don't know how hard of a time you're having with that).

You need to know why you want to quit. If it's for a good reason then obviously do that, but if it's "just because," then I don't think you will have much success.
If you are having trouble sleep Nyquil always works for me, way more than tylenol PM or any diphenhydramine based drug.

You need to exercise. It is the only alternative to drug-use or any unhealthy life style.

good point. i'm going mountain biking today as soon as my clothes are dry.

i know i feel a lot better after exercise, it's just kinda hard to get out and exercise when you have lyme disease and it's really cold out.

I had some form of withdrawal from weed when I quit all psychological..just restlessness and boredem mostly..just keep your self occupied and exercise the extra energy you have to get to bed. no need for pills especially the ones you have
