Hi everyone,
Iv'e searched everywhere for an answer to my question, but found nothing. I recently was prescribed Lamictal (1. 25mg in the am, 1. 25mg in the pm)and Abilify (1. 2mg in the pm) for mood swings. I began taking it, and a few weeks later was also prescribed Adderall (1. 20mg when needed) to increase my focus while studying. I have taken adderall before, so I know what it feels it when taken randomly. When I took my adderall, it didn't do a single thing to me. I looked online and people said that lamictal kills the effects of adderall, which made sense. I called my doctor and told her, and she said to stop taking the lamictal and continue the others. I stopped taking both the lamictal and the abilify because I wanted the adderall to work. I have now been taking it 2 days a week to study, and preloading with 500mg of magnesium, to help with my tolerance gain, which seems to be working.
Anyways, I want to get back on the lamictal and abilify because I really need help with my mood swings, and I want to see if they work. I wasn't on them long enough to receive the effects of them when I started. My question is, is there a way to start back up on the lamictal and abilify and just not take them on the days I want to take adderall, so I will be able to feel the adderall? Are these drugs that constantly stay I your system and I would need to be off them for a few days to feel the effects of adderall? Or are they drugs that just work when you take them, and will wear off, giving adderall an opportunity to do its magic after 12 hours or so?
It's a bummer because the adderall actually helps a lot with my mood swings, but only when it's taken randomly and not consecutively, day after day, due to the rapid tolerance build up it has.
I want to be able to receive the effects of both medicines, but I'm not sure that's possible with my mix.
Anything helps!!!!!
Thank you!
