If these concerta are still in the pill bottle from which they were prescribed, there should be an expiration date printed on the label. This would be the most accurate information on which to base its effectiveness and safety. I'd say most pills are labeled to expire within a year or so.
That in mind, I can say that in my experience, pills used that are "expired" don't feel to me notably less potent or more dangerous than a newly created version. Though i'm certain there is some length of time over which the chemical bonds that hold together the active ingredients in concerta would deteriorate.
