How long does amphetamine tolerance last

My friend is trying to tell me it lasts 5 days and it drops and drops abruptly and such after you stop daily use
-He says you can do as much speed as you want, as whacked as you want, but it isn't going to work anymore after you've stayed up for a period of time... once you go to sleep and then take a hit in the morning, you suddenly feel like its day 1 again (which i guess i kind of agree with, but thats not all of it)

I'm saying amphetamine tolerance lasts a long time, and it doesn't take daily use to do it

He doesn't believe I have amphetamine tolerance because I haven't taken my Adderall for 2 weeks (it takes me 40mg+ of IR to get an amphetamine buzz)

He also claims methamphetamine is making me high after only 2 or 3 hits from a pipe, but he says I only say that it isn't because I just want another hit

EDIT: Can someone also mention, it doesn't take daily use of a drug to raise tolerance...
I assume he's thinking withdrawal from chronic use only lasting 5 days or so... applies to tolerance in the same way

There's instanteneous tolerance, which should go down after a good 2-3 weeks, caused by the normal depletion of neurotransmitters that comes with higher-dose releasing agent therapy.
Then there's also a more permanent tolerance caused by the restructuring of the reward circuits in the brain and desensitization of dopamine receptors, that will probably last years.

"tolerance" is a tricky term; everyone responds differently to different drugs.

^ "that more permanent tolerance" def can happen after years of amphetamine use..in my case i used to use daily for years...then got into a binging cycle where i would use a ton..then not use again for 1,2, or even 3 months..and even after months of no use my tolerance remained really high. and yes "tolerance" is kinda subjective...but that makes sense that long term use could actually rewire your brain..

Can someone also mention, it doesn't take daily use of a drug to raise tolerance in the long term

Example, I got Adderall March, April, May, EARLY june (only taking it on weekdays, but sometimes i needed a little extra boost or something... so the 30 bottle still ran out)
-
Didn't have it most of June, and all of July
-
I got Adderall again in August and September, but only taking my normal 1 capsule, weekdays only (sometimes crushing the XR up and eating it)
Because of tolerance
-
Even Abstinence for 2 months (June-July) didn't work for lowering my Adderall tolerance and it REALLY takes me around 15-20mg IR+ for therapeutic effects
40mg IR+ to feel a buzz
-
IT USED to only be a 20mg XR, and I'd have euphoria... now my tolerance is just pretty high

It takes regular usage of a drug to produce tolerance, it doesn't neccesarily have to be daily. 2x weekly is enough to feel it.

I am in the same boat, but don't go the route of getting more. It's detrimental to your health, as well as you wallet if you so choose to go that route(don't). There are ways to lower tolerance though, including, but not limited to half days, off days, week holidays and the all might NMDA receptor antagonist. And from my personal experience, crushing up an XR is a waste or time and a waste of a pill, especially if insuffulating. Take Magnesium and research other NMDA receptor antagonists, such as Delsym(Dextromethorphan), and try to keep your stomach PH neutral and empty before ingesting. Take a couple days break, whilst taking magnesium glycinate or citrate, the good kinds. Avoid Mg chloride, as it barely absorbs, and you may as well be taking nothing. Some good old alka seltzer two days of break later, Magnesium in bloodstream, and a lowered amphetamine tolerance, should get you closer to where you were before. Just remember, the fastest way to gain tolerance, is to take more than the therapeutic dosage prescribed by your Dr. Hope this helps, and if I missed anything, I'd be glad to know. Hopefully someday, they will give us all Namenda.

I started taking magnesium supplements (250mg, once or twice daily... my choice)

It actually helped my insomnia O_O and made my muscles not as tense

Tolerance, I hope it helped lol
