How long do testkits last?

Hello, new to the board.
Anyways, I was wondering what is the "shelf life" of the EZ-test and other such kits from Dancesafe, bluelight, etc..?
I am NOT a regular user of XTc at all, use it once in a great while(the best way

), and I was if the test kit substance can degrade, not work after a while?
thanks

EZ Kits and Bluelight are the same.
You order one through Bluelight and you receive an EZ Test ;-) Some money from those sales go to Bluelight and pay for the Bluelight server (Yes Jase, the money is coming, got everything (incl. December) together now ;-)) )
Anyway, shelf life of an EZ test is pretty long. If kept cool and dark, probably a year or maybe more.I don't know about the other ones (dripper issue; read other postings about this subject)

Are the EZ-Test kits from BL the same as those that come from DanceSafe? At the DS orientation I went to a few weeks ago, they told us that the kits were only good for 3 MONTHS from the date it ARRIVES at your house.
Hope this helps, supposedly after a while they start testing everything as black (Woohoo! My aspirin turned into MDMA!)

Well, this reads like the dropper issue ?
Our kits definitely last longer than 3 months.
Our dropper is not the greatest dropper
(as in "drops coming out easily") in the world but this dropper can stand the reagent (does not react with the reagent).
It seems that DS and E kits have droppers that can not stand the reagent
(but they definitely drip better). The reagent slowly reacts to the dripper and then the reagent goes brownish.

this is from the chemical generation website:
How long do the testers last for?
Marquis Reagent is ideally prepared fresh, immediately before use, in the laboratory.  This is because it rapidly loses the formaldehyde (which is normally a gas), and also because of a tendency to go brown over time.  These two events can occur independently, and it should not be assumed that the reagent is suitable even if it is clear.  We have found that it can last for about 6 months if stored and used carefully (see below), and also lasts longer in greater volumes (This is the reason behind the 5mL bottle).  One of the problems with aged Marquis Reagent is that it loses formaldehyde rapidly,  therefore consisting primarly just of  concentrated sulphuric acid.  Concentrated sulphuric acid alone will react with MDMA to give a purple colour change, however in the case of aged Marquis Reagent, you will NOT know that your tester is not working properly, as sulphuric acid reacts with MANY chemicals to give a purple colour change.  In essence, you have lost the selectivity of your tester without realising it, and you may not identify an adulterated or bad pill!  You should check the suitability of your reagent periodically.  We priced our product according to the fact that it has a limited shelf life, and recommend replacing it periodically.

Geee I guess mine is really past it then.
heh
It can tell the difference between speed n MDMA tho but the reaction aint quite like the colour chart supplied with it

The liquid isnt spose to be black before u put the sample in is it.

Make no mistake, 'E: a quick and simple test' is every bit as reliable as any other Marquis reagent kit on the market, if not more so. In addition, we have provided MORE information than anyone about their use and best storage conditions. AJ - you have nothing to add in this area, as you know nothing about the chemistry involved.
You should remember that the E kit you were sent a while ago did NOT come from us, it came from a 'friend'. It did not have one of our 'shipping seals' that we use when we sell the product overseas (and now locally as well). There's no telling what conditions it's been exposed to! In addition, we and other suppliers of Marquis reagent have been telling our customers the truth: Marquis reagent is NOT a stable product, and should be replaced periodically. We continue to strive for even better products and better packaging. Look out!
The only serious doubts you have about our E kit are based on non-factual information and gross assumptions, without any foundation of chemistry. You should be seriously worried for yourselves, as we are moving into very exciting times at Chemical Generation, with great interest in our products, particularly E2, and world wide partners coming on-line steadily.

That might be true but the average testkit is being exposed to a whole range of funny outside conditions.
I am trying to get a good camera now and once I have that, I'll show you what I mean (if the previous video was not clear enough).
Please don't get me wrong here, I just want to point out that I think (!) that the dropper _is_ an issue.
Having to replace a kit every 2-3 months is not an option if you ask me. Please note that the DS kit appears to suffer from the same problem.

ps I have asked an independent person to test all testkits (EZ, E and DS), if this person is willing to do this, I'll let you know. Are you willing to donate a testkit if this person is willing to test testkits ??
