How does one go about identifying dried poppy pods that are originally intended for decorative purposes? Would pods that look similar to this http://postimage.org/image/4kwkccqvt/ contain any of the psychoactive alkoloids?
Also, and this is an important questions. Are there any dangers ingesting tea made of pods who's source is completely unknown. I'm mainly thinking about certain pesticides or pheraps chemicals that are used to enhance the appearence of decorative pods. I imagine these sort of chemicals could be very dangerous to ingest, anyone here know if these chemicals are used for decorative pods?
Is there any way one could safely test pods of any dangerous chemicals or to find out the alkoloid content? If one was to make tea and drink a very small amount and then wait a certain period (how long?) would this be an effective way of determining if there is anything dangerous in/on the pods? I mean, if there's something bad in/on them then drinking a small amount and waiting for any negative effects would be a safe way to go about it, wouldn't it?
Thanks
