Okay I will start, when I was in HS I was stupid enough to choose my friends by 'hes smokes, drinks etc' must be a friend. Turns out not so much.

Meth -- I cannot trust someone that hasn't slept and cannot keep their mouth shut.

In general I feel like alot of drug users aren't really even in it for the high -- more the ambience and the feeling of being edgy or w/e. Where I live 9/10 are gunna rat.

Of course I got my ppl's that I fux with but in general I am not seeing drug users nearly as positive as I use to. (These are not rebels with honor and loyalty these are fairweathered go where the high/$ are thieving talking too much mofos).

I really do mean when I say BL aside -- everyone here is making an attempt to understand things and reduce harm.

Well I think you’re on the money at least in understanding that shared use of drugs /= friendship.

Especially when you get out of your high school bubble you need to protect yourself and be on guard with people who are in your circle only by virtue of getting high with you because some of those people are complete snakes. They’ll act all buddy-buddy but then when they get the opportunity to get ahead by ripping you off - they’ll take it without a care in the world.

When I was younger I was into strong opioids, shot up first time at age 18. My only exposure to meth users was in the media where they were characterised as being dirty, volatile, untrustworthy and stupid. But then when I went to rehab and was the only opioid addict in a rehab full of alcoholics and meth addicts (opioid use is highly underground and rare in my country - meth is probably the most commonly used illicit drug behind cannabis) I finally realised they were just normal people like everyone else. I made a bunch of friends there. When I got out I ended up trying meth for the first time (iv naturally) and the rush definitely feels nice but the rest of the buzz is not really my thing, I’ll do it if it’s offered for free occasionally over the 14 years since.

But what I also realised after hanging out with and using with meth addicts after rehab is that although they are mostly nice, normal people - i really don’t like being around people on meth - at least most people. My best friend developed an addiction to it for a few years and I still loved hanging out with him but my god he’s so much more organised and punctual etc now he’s off it.

Drug users are people some of them are cool but a lot of them suck.

It doesn’t make sense to discriminate against or to trust people based on the drugs they use.

The only form of discrimination that actually makes sense is against the filthy humans as a whole - forget colour, creed or drug of choice - we’re all just filthy humans at the end of the day
