Things like:
  • memory
  • attention
  • processing speed
  • pattern recognition
  • mental flexibility
all seem trainable to some degree, at least from what I’ve seen.

Some people are naturally extremely good at one specific area while being average or weak in another. Someone can process patterns very quickly but struggle with memory. Someone else can focus intensely for long periods but have slower reaction speed or weaker mental flexibility.

What I’m curious about is how people actually develop their strongest cognitive abilities over time.

Does it mostly come from:
  • repetition
  • practice
  • lifestyle
  • gaming
  • reading
  • programming
  • music
  • constantly using that skill
  • certain jobs/hobbies
  • or mostly natural ability from the beginning?
I started thinking about this more after spending time around exercises focused on isolating specific cognitive abilities instead of treating intelligence like one single thing.
Curious whether people here noticed certain activities noticeably strengthening specific mental abilities over the years.

I've been listening to several neurological binaural beats and frequency subscriptions on YouTube that help me in a number of ways, if I wake up early and can't go back to sleep, I'll listen to sleep sounds on YouTube, in the morning I listen to aura beat or sound waves to activate third-eye, There are a bunch programs for meditation etc to listen to that help with cognition

Be careful with that type of stuff. I've been following a guy that produced and mastered his own albums. He's really into subliminal messages being hidden within audio files and he's found tons of stuff hidden in those youtube <color noise> videos and the type of videos you're describing.
