How do i detox myself?

all joking and skepticism aside, does anyone with experience in detoxifying the body have anything else to add here? i will soon be embarking on a bit of a lifestyle shift that will begin with a 15-day herb/plant-based cleanse such as this or this. the kit i'm getting isn't either of those exactly but it's similar.

for those who think colon cleanses are fictional, what exactly do you believe is the function of psyllium husk? do all of the detox naysayers also deny that cleansing the body of toxins can improve metabolism and fat burning potential?

i went to a seminar over the summer that was primarily a sales pitch for ionothermie and various algaes, but there were also a few sensible seeming points about toxins being locked into fat deposits, some fats being trapped by toxins and therefore unburnable (or at least deprioritized by an already taxed liver), etc. unfortunately i can't remember all of the science behind the presentation, but i did come out of it thinking a proper cleanse sounded like a good idea.

i'm generally a pretty healthy person and i'm in reasonably good shape, but i am ready to drop some bad recreational habits and also transition to a mostly organic and mostly vegetarian diet. i am planning to kick start this with a cleanse, so any guidance would be appreciated.

Re: Fasting and detoxification, here's an example of traditional ayurvedic methods to remove fat-soluble toxins: http://yourayurvedaconsultant.com/studies/herrons-pk-detox.pdf

In my understanding, when you metabolize fat, or when you fast, the toxins that store themselves there (including dioxins-- though I've not tried to read anything specific on that) may remain, causing an alteration in the ratio of fat soluble toxins to actual fat. Some may shift to aqueous phase-- IF it can. Others remain in fat soluble form and may be expelled through poop or by a bit of coaxing by way of "bunk" detox procedures you describe-- otherwise removal is very slow ;). Even big pharma is coming up with ways to remove these from the body. Different toxins have different reactions in your body.

It is difficult for people to quantiy detoxification, but I observe resistance to ideas of detoxification limited to those regarding humans. It's quite widely accepted in animal care. I've friends who fight cocks-- a big thing here-- (their birds are on all-organic diets, while their families eat regular fare). The use of toxin binders and whatnot are very common for performance and health of birds. A friend is doing his research on evaluating changes in grain-agri chemicals in the birds vs. after "snake oil" toxin binders and detox programs-- yes, for chickens.

There is no such thing as a detox. Just eat a lot of vegetables, fruits, dietrary, fibers, and proteine.

You can ask any doctor, there is absolutely no reason to detox your body.

Actually some people have died from those lemon water 5 day binges. If you keep drinking water without getting any/or very few nutrients, you can get very ill and and in a worse case scenario die.

There is not any dangerous chemicals building up in you body srsly go get your blood drawn.
And if you decide to do this. Remember to Vitamins and electrolytes while doing it.

Its actually not that rare. Trust your GP, not some retarded new age mumbo jumbo man.
Some herbal medicines work, but if there is no real science to back it up. Ignore it
