Heh, I always retort with that when people ask for soup. Lame, I know.
The soup I made was a riff on a south Indian restorative soup: rasam. I used lemon instead of tamarind for more vit C, one scotch bonnet instead of the chili powder (holy crap was that hot), about a head of garlic both as an anti-illness ingredient as well as just for general great justice and substituted bay leaves for curry leaves, as I had none of the latter. Oh, and I pureed it with an immersion blender rather than letting it split with the lentils, so it had a thicker texture. Not bad, but way too hot, even for me.
