There is large 2 page article in the latest 7 magazine about the large rise in the use of E in black hiphop circles in the US where apparantly it is quickly becoming the drug of choice. It raises some interesting points about what this might mean to Hiphop and the culture of violence that has always surrounded it as well as the effect it might have on the Hiphop 'sound'.

at last

stand up and be counted rolling homeboys!! c'mon MorpheousDAQ, admit it!
it's a bit of a generalisation to equate hiphop with violence tho... sure it's a major theme, but there's always been a gentler side to hip hop... from de la soul to the jungle brothers to the beastie boys at their mellowest...

*LOL* sorry JB but just after reading your reply I found a story in the same mag about how A Tribe Called Quest front man Q-tip has just pleaded guilty to assault charges. Guess its one thing to rap about peace and unity and another thing to practice it !

dont forget, ATCQ split up a while back, and Q-Tip took the sell out wack "Missy Elliot" route, while Phife Dawg is dropping some mad pornographic rhymes.
makes me think as well, Non Phixion and Necro talk about having e's, so does Eminem. in fact, eminem and Dre confessed they were on a biccie binge when they were making Eminem's album.
theres Kool Keith and Sir Menelik, rapping about "sniffing coke and ecstasy at the lounge" or something like that. yes, e's are big in hip hop these days.
oh yeah, ATCQ is supposed to be mad when your pinging, so I guess I'm gonna have to have a listen to it again.

you never see them in the ghetto! (BITCHES WITH DICKS)

oh shit, don't start him on the hip hop

Was it Public Enemy who said "I don't even fuck with the weed no more". I don't think it was actually,,,some hip hop group said it anyway.
Keep it real bro's

So when are they going to piss R'n'B off and get into Drum'n'Bass?
Acid_Reign: I think it was NWA - maybe

i thought id share this with you as it was funny.
yesterday my friend who is single asked me to hook her up with this guy i know, while on the topic she casually asked me if he was a peaker.
I said yes, she found this to be even more appealing and said is he a clubber or a raver?
He is neither i reply'd hes more so into bands and stuff!
she then continued to argue the fact that he must not be that much of a peaker if thats his music of preference.
this totally pissed me off.
why do people think that E's are only for ravers and clubbers??
ok now your wondering what the moral to my little story is? well its quite simple
DONT JUDGE A PEAKER BY HIS/HER COVER hahahaha

JellyHead & Acid_Reign, Express Yourself has got this line...
"Even if Yella makes it acapella
I still express
Yo, I don't smoke weed or cess
'cause it's known to give a brother brain damage..."
That's Dre rappin, but they're Icecube's lyrics... (I think I got that whole album stored in my head haha

).
& as for Tip selling out... rikidozan, who cares? Yeah sure the Breathe & Stop video is pretty expensive, & he's got the record company money behind him, but fuck it, it's still Qtip, he can still flow, & he has still got the same cool voice!

does it matter that all Q's beats sound shite?
does it matter that the reason why his beats sound shite are because they are produced by Missy Elliot, who in turn is backed up by a major Record Company. Vivrant Thing is fucking dissapointing.
its all about the money brother...
hey, Rawkus Records have been bought out by Sony, but they are still making some phat beats. I dont care what label it is, as long as it sounds fresh I dont care.
I forgot who said that line, it is in a totally different song and it aint PUBLIC ENEMY or NWA. I have the track cause I remember the line and i'm sure Acid_Reign got it from my collection

. The only name that would spring to mind would be someone like Jeru, but nah, I doubt it was him.

eh. fair enough. I like what I've heard so far, at any rate. I don't give a rats arse if he's doin it for money or respect. Like they didn't make The Low End Theory so they could make money?

And as the great MC Gusto said:
I'd fuck your sister
I'd fuck the Cat
I'd even fuck your mother
But the bitch is too fat
STRAIGHT OUTTA LOCASH

Cause life aint nothing but a good groove
A good mix tape to put you in the right mood

of course they made all their albums for money, the difference back then was they still had love for the music and kept it real.
Q-Tips new shit is wack, he has made it for the masses like you wack hip pop peeps.

hahaha. wack hip hop peeps like me? Cause the last thing I heard come out of a stereo with QTip rapping over sounded good to me? I suppose you're true & all that? Keep fronting rikidozan. I thought taking pills would have taught you a thing or two about attitude (& how not to have one).

ah rikidozan..you're way too cool for me..
who gives a rats arse what it is? hip pop hip hop whatever!

nah man, if you liked your hip-hop you would understand all this.
it goes back to 3rd Bass, and there diss at Vanilla Ice.
probably even before that, the hip pop term was started.
ah fuck it, im too tired

Refer to my post above that says
"Don't start him on the hip hop"
like lighting a god damn stick of dynamite

Nice CB4 reference Morpheus. That movie sums up my attitude to hip-hop.
(setfont = sarcasm)
So what if you like hip-pop, vanilla ice and MC Hammer made early 90's rap great ;P
(setfont = end sarcasm)
