What a cool website this is ! The variety of topics and amount of information, interesting stuff is a real treat.
First, I'm fifty freakin' eight years old. Damn ! "Damn the Electric Fence" a Farside once said :).
I'm a recently retired military guy, 30 fun-packed years. However, the 'fun' was a lot more fun prior to drug testing, and prior to whizzinators became something that was looked for. Grrrr.Hobbies ? On and off road motorcycling, vintage top shelf audio, r/c model aircraft and helis.
Boy have I had some great times, high and otherwise in life. Never been a drinker, it's just something I never really enjoyed much.
So, after becoming a civilian again, and especially after reading Keith Richards outstanding book, 'Life", (five stars) I've had the urge to enjoy some blow, the extensive descriptions of how much they loved pharmaceutical blow, which in those days they could get, LUCKY dogs, got me remembering. I've seen pictures of it and talk about mouth watering :).
While weed is plentiful and very high quality here in sunny Ohio, man have I had ZERO luck finding high quality blow. What a drag. A couple young friends showed me what they'd been buying and my God...I had to tell them that the buzz of that garbage was right up there with holding your breath for a minute, just imagine paying for that ! These poor guy shave no clue. This crap was all very fine powder, always a promise of it being worthless, not a rock in site. And they bought all th elies, the 'It's 95% or some other fairy tale they get, 'it's right off the rock', ad nauseum.
Oh well, someday, somehow I'll find it. I hope :).I REALLY DO :).
Oh...a word to the "drinkings different/better/legal" types : I was talking to another old lifer who was going on about how todays military was so much better because of drug testing, etc. I said "When I was on duty at a barracks in the 70's (my time was split, 75-81, out for 6 years of college, then back in) on a weekend, touring the barracks, I'd see guys mellowed out listening to music talking and laughing, others passed out with an empty pizza box by their side. "
Now ? Fights, DUI's, injuries, broken property, personal and government, just generally moronic behavior. We were proud of our work, we worked and trained hard, we executed what needed to be done with enthusiasm. When we were in dire straits because of either dangerous training or the real thing you'd best believe we were as straight as a grizzlies d..k . Yup, thank God for drug testing8).There was never any BS like you'll see in movies about Vietnam with a bunch of idiot, stoned or tripping soldiers. Not in my world .
Well, younger folks-don't let anyone tell you that recreational, prudent use of mind altering substances will end your life early or ruin it.I'm still kickin', had a really good career in the military of all things, and I regret nothing I ever tried and liked. I'm looking forward to more great times, the conversations, just realizing 'hey, I'm really enjoying myself.
Sorry for the novel :)
