Heroin catches on in suburbia

see the issue i find is no matter how many deaths heroin causes (or any drug for that matter) or how terrible its made to seem peope wil never listen. peope will only have to find out its dangers for themselves to truly understand it. if person wants to try dope there bascialyl isnt anything you can tell them to convince them not too. and yes this isnt news. for some reason in america people think if you are middle class your kids will never have issues and grow up to be a doctor/lawyer.

This is a trajic story that unfortunatly will happen over and over again, and I want to express my condolences for the family.
There was only one thing left out of this story, the most important part, heroin has been in the burbs for ever. I don't know where these reporters, doctors or whoever thinks that heroin has been in the getto and nowhere else. I have been a heroin addict since 1979, my parents are upper middle class. My ole man, well ex ole man is 64 years old, his parents were millionaires. I am in recovery on methadone maintenace for 20+ years, my ex is a member of a 12 step program. He was shooting heroin in the 1960's. My uncle who is in his 80's was shooting dope in the 1940's and he is also a millionaire, so experts LISTEN UP..Heroin has always been in the burbs, and it always will be.. The Harrison act made all opiate addicts criminals overnight. The WOD is the biggest fiasco our country has ever seen. End this insane war, and the deaths will go down overnight

The only thing I can see being different is that a lot of people are trying heroin or moving onto heroin due to addictions to other powerful painkillers.

I know oxycodone is nothing new and there was demerol and morphine decades ago too, but there wasn't 30mg IR pills or 80mg OC's. No Opana or fentanyl suckers. The fact that suburbia is catching on in this fashion is somewhat of a change for making a news story, but even then it's about a decade after the fact.

I wonder if %'s of use have gone up over the last decade, and if they've gone up within the last few years. Also wonder if the % of people trying heroin for the first time has gone up in the last several years. Anyone have any idea on these statistics?

Unfortunatly there are more young people using heroin everyday, and I am sure that most if not all of them started with vicodin, and other stronger prescription narcotics. There is a great movie with Don Murrhy, it's called "A Hatfull Of Rain, it was made in 1957 and it is about a Vetran of the Korean War, who was injured and got addicted to morphine, and had to use heroin because he could no longer live with the withdrawls not to menntio the oain frin his injuries. He was a middle class newlywed, so you se, no msatter how hard the anti drug guys want us to think that heroin has just hit the burbs is FOS. Do a glggle search and look up the statistics..You will be surprised at what you see.. I myself at 14 years of age was given the following narcotics by my doctor, and years ago, you didn't argue with your doctor, he was the expert. Yeah right-----NOT

1. Dihydrocodeine..It came in a capsule called snyalgos DC and it had as fillers caffeine, aspirin, and promethazine. They later took out the promethazine bevause that drug encanced the DHC so much, people were getting hooked by the thousands I was given it for dysmenorrea. 2. valium because of nerves. 3 nembutal 100mg because I am an insomniac, 4 Meprobrimates because of nervous headaches (years later I found out they were menstral migraines. I look back, and see it is no wonder how many people in my age group are addicts.Today, if a doctor gave me all odf those meds they would be under investation with the DEA... If I hadn't gotton on methadone years ago, there is no doubt in my mind that I would be dead or in a prison...
