Yeah that initial diagnoses is a shocker from the old doctor huh? I remember that now and smile...
I'm HIV+ don't know a lot about hep c. Its not the end of the world. My advice would be to learn as much as you can about it. Try and look after your liver.
Check out the HIV
megathread as things could relate to you such as sigma and discloser and some hep C links etc.
One thing I would do differently would be to not have disclosed to so many friends. Once you have told someone you have a blood born virus then you cant take it back. serophobia is innate in the public conscious now, as you know just look at your own fear. I wish I got over that yearly hump of dealing with it psychologically before disclosing. Then again disclosing to some friends helped me deal with it so who knows.
First step write down a list of questions to take into your doctors, try and get primary information face to face from doctors and people who work in the field. Regarding secondary sources or the web only use reliable online sources otherwise your just going to freak yourself out.
I take 3 pills in the morning and pay next to nothing (living in a newly developed country), with a steady girlfriend who's negative but clued up. To be honest I don't even think about it now unless I am changing time zones and organizing my pill sched'.
Good luck. HIV has made me a stronger better person believe it or not.
