I need help and dont know if i'm just naive or if he's telling the truth. My husband has been fighting addiction to opiates and shooting up. He has seemed to be clean now for about 2- 3 weeks- with the help of subs, and at first the track marks and hole in the crook of his arm was healing. but now I noticed the crook looks like its been used- ( I could actually see a hole mark yesterday) and then today i noticed the "track mark" appeared red in spots. the other arm is darkish grey (which i thought was what a scar looks like healed) he said that this is what happens when it heals, it will get better and then scar tissue will resurface and it will look bad again and then get better.

Am I just denying that he is using still or does this really happen?? I hope this makes sense, i don't know who else to ask.

thanks Bang. but have you ever heard that "scar tissue will resurface" and look red again? or is that nonsense?

I look at his eyes and notice they are pinned- sortof. i'm not sure what to look for or how to tell. But I can't go on with my life this way. what are signs to look for if he's still using oxy's or roxy's I dont know the difference- but to me its considered the same.

He does take xanax for anxiety which i understand. But xanax doesn't make your eyes pinned do they?

scar tissue is connective tissue which fills in the damaged areas. It stays put where it grows. If it was in the skin it stays in the skin, if it was below the skin it stays below the skin. Scar tissue doesn't migrate through layers of the body. I don't think injection site scarring would heal any differently than any other puncture would.

SO pretty much, if it looks like a new spot, then more than likely it is?

If a scar was going away, say it was looking grayish, then it wouldnt start looking fresh again?

And that if the arm was smooth, no bumps, then bumps that he is calling scar tissue now, wouldn't just reappear?

Also, is this the best place to post this question? or would a different category be better?

Unless he has some sort of skin condition or some kind of skin or hair follicle infection he shouldn't be seeing any new lesions appearing on his skin unless he is doing something traumatic to it (ie: injecting). I'd say you're correct on all counts.

I notice that my old tracks and scars look worse or newer at certain times. Like when its chilly outside or I'm feeling cold, they seem to stand out more and it seems when my arms are exposed to the sun and then I get in the shade, they look newer and puff out. I dunno its kinda weird and also I have darker skin so that could be why.

pinned eyes are def a sign of opiate use.

I mean the main way you are gonna tell if he is using if he is nodding out. which is hard to hide when ur noddin hard haha

pin point eyes n lookin distant
itchy n scratchy
noddin out

easy to know if hes still shootin up

The Xanax will most likely affect his pupils!

Yeah, but it won't make them pinned. I'm pretty sure that he's lying to you. Quitting IV drug use is SO incredibly difficult, so I wouldn't go with the "angry approach" when you confront him about your suspicions. Try to be as understanding as possible, if you can.
