Here's an interesting and recent piece by Conner Habib, wo is both a Muslim and a sex worker, on "How Anti-Sex Activists Use the Tactics of Homophobes and Racists to Marginalize, Criminalize, and Oppress Decent People":
"If You're Against Sex Work, You're a Bigot"
Favourite quote: "What's more dehumanizing: showing your butt cheeks to an audience or having someone tell you that you don't exist?"
Eastern Star, don't let this bullshit get you. What you're reading here is an example of hate speech, which is abusive and supposed to hurt and harm. This one isn't even very cleverly disguised as pity.
8) Of course as a prostitute who is still actively involved in selling your body and doing sex for pay, and being forced into prostitution for a multitude of reasons you're going to claim that what I've posted is 'abusive' when it's not hate speech or whatever other silly bullshit you want to claim.
You are an example of the many ways women coerce and force other women into prostitution and claim that it's 'liberating', 'fine', 'something someone can make a career out of', and other utter rubbish. You are also ignoring the fact that the majority of prostitutes have been victims of sexual abuse both before they were forced into prostitution and after they become prostitutes, and that prostitution harms society and the people who are forced into it.
People who supposedly consent to their prostitution, rarely, if ever, give informed consent. Informed consent would be presenting them with all of the available data on the inherent harms of prostitution before they are in a position to become literally reduced to goods to be bought and sold, they are the wares, the objects.
Prostitution is a product of lack of choice, the resort of those with the fewest choices, or none at all.
You're romanticizing the idea that someone has a ‘choice’ to become a prostitute, as self-determination and use it to normalize prostitution as ‘sex work.’ Both succumb to the belief that whatever happens to a person in prostitution is normal because it’s their 'choice' to become a prostitute. Both these views have facilitated the expansion of sexual slavery in many parts of the globe and the extensive ways in which people themselves become ‘goods and services’ – as prostituted people, as trafficked instruments of exchange, as objects of sex tourism, and as indentured domestic workers who are often sexually exploited as well.
I read the silly article/opinion piece you linked to. It's grad school rubbish and theory that bears nothing about reality or the actual facts of someone being a prostitute.
The opinion that "if you're against sex work, you're a bigot." That's quite an accusation, considering "sex work" is a euphemism for sex trade, rape, oppression of people, and human trafficking, in which women, men, boys, and girls are manipulated, exploited and sold as sex slaves. The notion that anyone would consent to being a slab of meat solely used to provide sexual pleasure to strangeres has no basis in reality and is just another delusion prostitutes will claim. Some people succumb to such work, with the other option being starvation.
I'm certainly not 'anti-sex', 'homophobic', or 'racist'. However if you want to see someone that is all for the oppression, trafficking, oppression, and violence against people who are prostitutes including women, men, trans people, and kids who are prostitutes go look in the mirror at yourself.
