Hi guys,

I went hunting today with some people and found about 300+ mushies in total =D But now I need help identifying them. We found two batches, a smaller batch that grew in grassy patches in the graveyard, and a massive batch (which composes most of our haul) that grew in woodchippy compost just outside where I live.

The first patch we found in the graveyard have wavy caps and a nipple on the top of the cap. The caps were a dark chocolatey brown. The gills are an orangey, rusty brown. The stems were white, but did not stain blue when bruised. Spore print was brown.

When we found the second batch, they were already kind of dry (dying?) but stained blue when bruised. The cap is wavy, and are a golden/tawny color except for the darker nipple, which is a blue/black. The stems are white. When I pulled the cap off of the shroom, the spot where the stem used to be turns blue. It was harder to do a spore print of these because they were already drying when we had found them, and our attempts of pressing a dampened mushroom didn't yield much so we will try to find another mushroom growing in the same spot to spore print.

Photos of both will come soon :)

this is tantamount to a drug ID thread, so I wouldn't expect it to stay open.

from an HR standpoint, I would say that you should never eat any mushrooms that are not positively identified by a mycologist. You could dry both batches seperately, taking care to discard any mushrooms which don't fit in with either type, then send a sample of each to your local University mycology department, or try to find someone willing to ID them. You can always just say you were mushroom hunting in the woods for food and you found these two interesting species that don't appear to be truffles.

From an experiental standpoint, I can say that as long as the mushroom stains blue and has gills under the cap as opposed to a sponge, it should be good, as not all mushrooms that stain blue have psilocybin, and not all mushrooms with gills are safe, but when the two traits are found together, it is very unlikely that it is anything but a psliocybe.

Sorry, we do not allow ID threads. Please visit the website The Shroomery for that.
