Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

I find a lot of Gnostic teachings in ancient Indigenous beliefs around the world, especially in Polynesia.
The read-between-the-lines style of teaching, the symbolism and recognition of all life as equal and part of a much larger macrocosm really makes sense to me.
I was wondering if you have noticed the same, Gnostic principles being found in unexpected places/belief systems??

Almost all traditions had Gnostic thinkers.

The way I see the distant past is scriptures being written solely to promote the discussions and the seeking of the best God. God being the best rules and laws to live life well with.

Jews and Gnostic Christians would intentionally change wording and interpretations of scriptures to do this.

Under those flexible rules where no God or scriptures were taken literally, everything worked well and peacefully.

That all changed when Christianity began to read their scriptures literally. The Dark Ages, Inquisition and wars was the result.

If defining gnosticism widely enough to cover the 'gnostic' elements present in many separate cultures, then the christian bit becomes less relevant (non-christian traditions are often better at it). Gnosticism in this wide sense can mean something similar to mysticism (ie direct practical religion). I'd consider the origin of gnosticism to have more to do with neoplatonism than christianity per se (though that is what it became primarily attached to)

And there's maybe a danger that you're just picking the good bits and calling them gnostic (there was more to the european dark ages than lack of gnostic christianity).

It would be rather foolish of Gnostic Christians to not accentuate the good bits. Is that what Christians do when they ignore most of the O.T.?

The two main things I accentuate is the equality we give all souls and the fact that we believe someone's bedroom to be private within the limits of consenting adults.

Don't get me wrong, i'm with you on what you say about equality and gnostic christianity generally and i find the tradition fascinating. I just think it's one among many paths to the same, and i happen to find other paths a bit more coherent (i don't subscribe to any though) - for me i'd prefer to just have the gnostic bit (available via our intuition i guess) without even thinking about jesus or any particular tradition at all (less chance of contamination by archaic cultural baggage)

I hear you.

Regardless of the tradition or myth you prefer, even no belief at all, what I push is that you go inside to your higher mind and activate it for enlightenment. I use the Jesus model because it is fairly clear and that thinking applies to whatever you think.

Even atheists can activate their pineal gland. If they do not think it good then I do not care as the morals of most atheists are better than the morals theists get from their Gods. In that, I am more atheist than theist.

Gnostic Christianity is probably the religion I can relate to the most, if I had to pick a religion.

However, I prefer teachers like Peter Deunov who said things like, “Being happy is a great science. If you are not happy, do not be confused. Happiness is hard to achieve.”

You accused him of being too much "Woo". I find you are too much "Woo". While he's more uplifting and gives you feelings of hope.

You're literally depressing the board.

Talking about Jesus doesn't help when your energy is so negative.

It is not my fault that immoral tenets were put in his mouth by Rome.

How can I be positive given that Jesus' policies, especially his no divorce policy is totally anti-love?



Should I do like Christians do and ignore the un-loving and immoral policies he gives us?

I already adressed Constantine and that Lucifer did what he could as an advisor of the board but there was only so much he could do. It's a wordly, wordly, wordly world. Spiritual beings can only do so much.

I see Lucifer as one of God's brightest angels who didn't really "fall", but volunteered to take part in a a project, or to descend into darkness as a self-sacrfice.

While another one, or Archangel Michael, took another path and remained in Heaven or stayed in the Light. His path was easier, but contributed just as much, in a different way.

Lucifer and Michael are also described as brothers who took different paths in some texts.
